Dear colleagues, let all of us give a feedback to ACCA for the P5 exam! The deadline is 14 June 2017. This exam is ridiculous and if we keep quiet and only write in this forum, we can’t expect changes! All of you should have received a survey email for the June 2017 session.

I sincerely did my best in this paper to work within the allocated time and found myself listing points which required more explanations but simply there was no humple time to do that. I believe given 30 more minutes would have done justice to this paper. What specific competencies is the examiner testing here? Work like robots? What is the work of a computer then? Am lost for words cos its crazy. This was my 6th attempt of this paper failing always with a margin of 1 or 2 marks. Any help out there please?

Just checked. Also, only one question from june attempt, right?

The March/June 17 sample exam questions are on the ACCA website. Looking at question 1, it’s in line with the syllabus and only 2 pages long. That wasn’t the case on Wednesday with 4 pages!.

Very vague questions. I mean, Q1 a was a total disaster. Spent five minutes just trying to understand what the examiner wanted. Ended up restating the budget to actuals and that was the last thing i did, and that was after i realised i ran out of time and still had 16 marks unattempted. Horrible horrible paper. will need second attempt.

It was a shocker of an exam! It seemed to be a different syllabus!

I’ve completed the feedback to the ACCA. I don’t normally reply as all the previous exams have been fair but I thought this was an extremely unreasonable exam.

I don’t expect to be handed an easy paper but I do expect a fighting chance.

I’ve enrolled on a revision course for September already as the June sitting is dead in the water. However, a revision course wouldn’t have changed the outcome for the June sitting so I’m hoping the examiner will set a fairer paper for September.

The ideea for feedback is very good.

I gave a feedback that it is very demanding, not enough time to read and think for a solution, time pressure higher than in any other P exam. I have finished all the other P exams within the allocated time, passed from first try, but this one was a disaster.

I’m still hopeful I’ll pass with reasonable marks. I attempted 83-85 marks exam however was pretty sure about what I was writing about.

ROCE calculation was very weird, Totally left that one.

ROCE bit was horrible. I was assuming, it should be easy one, but it was not.

Guys, I really don’t know why you are complaining so much. Our aim is not 100 marks, it’s 51 ?. It was not easy but we had couple of easy marks.

Q1a and Q2b were together 12 marks – revised budget and preparation of rolling forecast (these are basic things in management accountant)
Q1e for 12 marks to explain modern role of management accountant (basic theory)
Q2b for 8 marks was about balance scorecard and short-termism

Additionally, these things were part of previous papers – all together more than 30 marks. (plus 4 marks for clarity and structure of report in q1)

I agree that couple of sub questions were complicated and totally confused (roce calculation, reward question) but no one is expecting to answer correctly on all questions – it wouldn’t be possible even by Kaplan and Norton :).

Examiner wants to put pressure on us, to see our way of thinking when we are not 100% confident…like in real life.

Completed 13 papers with a 100% pass rate but then came P5 which ruined everything. 3rd attempt and I’m pretty sure I’ll have to sit again. Disappointed with the paper I can’t really understand what they are trying to test !!!!

They’ve only uploaded one question from June 2017, Possibly because they do know that it wasn’t a standard exam rather unfair and extremely tough one.

On the other hand, They uploaded bulk of P3 June 2017 exam in the hybrid paper available.
