Finally ACCA affiliate by passing P5 with 57 marks. To those retaking P5: do not give up and all the best next time. To opentuition.com: thank you for all the good work in supporting ACCA students worldwide.
July 18, 2016 at 10:26 am #326895Below my answers to your questions:
How many weeks did i start preparing before the exam?
This really depends on the paper, I’d say a couple of months is generally enough for one single exam
During weekdays wat time did u finish work and how many hours did you do during weeksdays?
To prepare these 2 exams, started mid of April, on average 2 hrs a day from Monday to Friday starting at 6 pm
On weekends how many hours did u do? 10/12 hrs on a weekend
How did u study? Coutse notes first and then exam and practice kit?
ONLY study text (one of those suggested by ACCA) + technical articles + past exam papers
Did u make notes or only read?
Just read
Any more tips ot advise you use which you think would be relevant?Further advise based on my experience:
– skim through the whole chapter before starting to read, just familiarise with the headers and bold writing within the chapter;
– make links between topics, look at the big picture, dive into details as long it is required to understand a concept, but get back to the surface as soon as you grasped it, do not let yourself get bogged down by details;
– do not put to much effort on memorising as few questions only require you to list;
– build up mental images, it will help you remember concepts rather than written words.Hope this is helpful and best of luck!

Damn son. That’s some hardcore weekends. Are these tips applicable to P2? Studying for that is different from P5 which is heavy on the reading.
July 18, 2016 at 11:03 am #32693558% Passed first time! I cried so much after my exam thinking I messed up (#dramaqueen !!!) Shocked Allhamdulillah 1 more to go! Guys don’t give up…you can do this 🙂
July 18, 2016 at 11:17 am #326954I failed my first attempt and with 29 marks i am asking myself if this is the course i should continue. I new i had left very easy marks to slip by but never thought this is what i was going to obtain. Again my time management was not the best even though i new what to do. I just blame myself. I am encouraged though going through the various postings. P5 is my last paper and can’t afford to be discouraged even though i am very down.
i work with a bank and were in the budgting period i just hope i can have time to revise for september.Congrats to those who have made it i am happy for you all.
July 18, 2016 at 11:49 am #326983Passed at 56. Now affiliate. Guys don’t give if you are still unqualified. I passed this paper in 9th Attempt.

July 18, 2016 at 12:42 pm #327032thank you very much for you advise.
Which study materials did you use and also on weekend revision, was it 10/12 hours for both days included or 10/12 hours each day?
and you were only reading right, which revision kit did you use, if you used them, BPP or KAPLAN?
Also how far back where you revising the past papers up to, i.e 2011/2010.I look forward to hearing from you soon, kindest regards.
Many thanks in advance.
July 18, 2016 at 12:49 pm #327047Failed p5 since 2012…i am in doubts what is the passing rates for singapore…seems like the marker very stringent…
July 18, 2016 at 12:51 pm #327053Passed third time with 55 marks.
July 18, 2016 at 12:54 pm #327056passed with 64 marks!
most of my previous attempts resulted in between 46-48 marks. This exam is very much about presentation and structure of your answer! More blank lines between sentences / ideas and you will get more marks! No need to do easy / non-value added but time consuming calculations!
July 18, 2016 at 1:08 pm #327082I passed with 56% on my 3rd attempt.Thanks Opentuition.
July 18, 2016 at 1:34 pm #327117Passed with 53 after 6 attempts Affiliate now Thanks to Allah 🙂

wow wow wow, it has been an amazing journey to affiliation. With due respect I say thanks to open tuition. From F8-P5 I have strictly used only open tuition notes and past papers. Now am an affiliate and I can’t wait to reap the fruits of my labor. I will advice other students not to give up and to fully utilize open tuition notes. Bravo ACCA and Bravo open tuition.
July 18, 2016 at 3:53 pm #327215Passed!! ACCA finished!! Thank you open tuition for all the help during the study years!
