To those struggling with this paper
1) be careful not to approach it as p3 its about managing performance not strategy so the models used need to reflect this
2) look at the answer structure there are easy marks available on evaluation questions which arent necessarily asked for in the question….evaluation you need to explain the requirement eg. If asked say about benchmarking performance in abc ltd explain benchmarking first then go into your answer- then look at pros and cons. A question with say 9 marks may have 13 marks available in the answer structure…..the examiner just expects you to know this!!!
3) rememember to justify your answer dont just make a point you need to explain and justify the point and how it will contribute to the business.
4) lots of practice papers……..reading text is only part application is very Important
5) technical articles – read these and there’s lots on acca website but helps understand current developments
6) this examiner has experience of economic climate in asia….he expects a lot from youI have worked extremely hard whilst working full time, starting a new job and raising a family ….so pleased im now an affiliate.
This paper will drag you down…it’s not the failing that matters its how you pick yourself back up!
Well done to everyone who passed and to those that havent dont get down you can do it! Hope this helpsFebruary 8, 2015 at 8:51 am #226516AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

Passed by 51% on first attempt π
One more exam to go (P4).February 8, 2015 at 8:55 am #226524So upset to get 42% and my 3rd attempt, final paper! I’m getting old and just want to qualify. Not sure whether to give up on ACCA completely now! So bored of keep sitting the same exam! It’s embarrassing as well. Keep telling my colleagues and family, oh yes I failed again!!
Congratulations to all those who passed. Very jealous of you.

Passed P5 & P4, no more exams left. What a relief! Many thanks for OpenTuition, the platform helped a lot in going though all exams, juggling studying, work and family life!
February 8, 2015 at 9:40 am #226575Annoyingly I failed again and registered with OT to express my frustration. It is a hard exam. I’ve failed it 3 times, I have a family to raise, 3 kids, extremely demanding job, away most months and self studied all papers. Deborah, well done for you, but I feel that your message is a bit patronising. I’m sure there are alot raising famies here and have demanding full time jobs like myself. Doesn’t make you a super hero.
To those saying, oh I passed first time 20 papers in one year. Good for you, I’d say, get a life! You probably still get your nappy changed by your mummy. π
sour grapes? Of course. Share you’ve passed, but don’t go on put it in my face that you’re affiliate And also tell me the story of your life how you got there, as frankly I don’t really care, it’s not gonna make my life an inch better.
Off to have some lemons now.
Much love to you all.
February 8, 2015 at 9:44 am #226581P7 – 54%
P5- 58%First times, affiliate, so glad. Had to re-sit P3 only previous session.

51 can’t believe I did it. Thanks for opentution
February 8, 2015 at 10:12 am #2266122 nd attempt and again fail – 38%. Feel unhappy π
February 8, 2015 at 10:42 am #226642ACCA completed.
Bit surprised, I expected 60-70 points on P5, scored only 54. A pass anyway. Overall, I passed all exams on the first try. I only flunked P2 once, but I attempted it without any preparation.
Had it not been for my former employer, I would have never started ACCA. I found only P2 useful + maybe the exams with finance focus (F5 etc). The rest, especially P1 and P3 are stitched together from past content and some useless mgmnt theories. I think the main purpose of these exams is for ACCA to collect more money.
Good luck to everyone!February 8, 2015 at 10:48 am #226648Passed with 61 – feeling very happy ????
February 8, 2015 at 10:55 am #226656Congrats to all who have passed, this is my final paper and i have failed for the fourth time, should i switch papers now? I feel i have a mental block about what the examination team wants. I got 40% with 42% in December, help!!

5th attempt and I passed with 61. Here is the history of my past results
Dec 2012- 44
June 2013- 45
Dec 2013- 30-something
June 2014- 46
Dec 2014- 61Results are quite shameful, but the end for me is the most important goal. I would like to encourage everyone to please be resilient, if you failed this time. I know there is nothing I can tell you now to cheer you up, However, if you plan to retake this paper, please do the best that you can to read ALL the technical articles on Paper P5 and go through the past questions and see how the questions are answered, to augment your study videos on OT and approved text (Used BPP in the last seating for the first time, but this was more for reference purposes as the technical articles covers a wide breadth of the P5 syllabus)
I found this particular article interesting for last diet ”Improving your Paper P5 answers Part 1 & 2” Link here
and here
especially as I had failed the paper being reviewed.
I wish everyone all the very best and if you intend to take this exam for the first time, please learn the lessons from previous mistakes from the on set.
All the best in future endeavors.
