First time pass with 64%!! Now just P5 and then i’m finished!!

Well done to all those who passed. Looking back at the paper, the questions were technical but there were plenty of other easy marks to pick up (e.g. soft capital rationing and explanation of real options).

My advice to those who are retaking. Practice, practice and practice!!

    Passed and done with ACCA.

P4 is the only paper that I need resit….
Didn’t practice for March, which I attempted 70 marks in total and got about 35…
Practiced for Jun, which I attempted 86 marks and got 60.

The only tips for ACCA is 1) practice, practice and practice, 2) read technical articals in student accountant magazine.

    Good luck to everyone!

There is still a 4th chance, a 5th if not the 4th. So it’s too early to abandon. I could see that in March exam you got 44% and now it’s 45%, it means that you’re getting there. For me, it’s my first attempt and failed with 40%, I passed no P paper but not looking forward to giving up at all.
    Stay perseverant
    Good luck

    Mar – 29%
    Jun – 38%

Not disappointed, just tired of it now. It’s my last exam and it’s showing me flames. I was not using OT on both occasions. I will give OT a try for the Sep sitting.

How should I use OT now that it’s a resit?

I got 31 marks on my first attempt (self study ).did not use Opentuition thoroughly even though every person here said how awesome the lectures were…on my second attempt I decided to give in completely..watched each & every lecture here on P4 even some from F9 (my base is really weak because of self studying) practiced a lot..attempt each question at least twice..and practice the last 5 years of past papers.
And even though I managed to attempt only 75% of the paper I got a Pass …so its all about handwork and giving in completely ..best of luck!

I failed UK P 6 three times with 35, 33, 27 in Dec 17, Mar 18, Jun 18. Giving up , so please advise which optional to take P 4 or P 5 ? Those who have taken both of these papers which should I go ?

I have easily cleared P 7 as I am a wordy person rather that numbers one. I hated F 5 and barely passed on 3rd attemtp. Enjoyed F 9 and understood concepts much better that in F 5. Passed on 2nd attempt with higher mark than in F 5. However, I’ve red somewhere that P 4 is a too technical and quite specilised area syllabus (like P 6). You have to know many things than in P 5 where you do not have to have the special knowledge but common sense. But I did not F 5 concepts well . Do you think that good knowledge of F 5 is a key to pass P 5 ? I did not like P 3 but passed it easily with no preparation even with marginal score.

Failed 3rd attempt with 44%. TBH it’s more than I expected – I found the paper very tough. I just can’t seem to pass this paper. It’s my last one – aaarrrggghhh!!!

I passed P5 first time around – it overlaps a lot with P3 so if you were okay on P3 then I reckon you’ll be fine on P5. I am struggling with P4 – failed 3 times now. And I did the same with F9 – got it the fourth time around so hopefully I will get through P4 one day soon. It is very technical and you need to read a lot and apply a lot of what they seem to think is general knowledge. I think if you got through F9 you might be okay with this paper though. But the calculations are horrific!!

    @Sheelagh

Don’t give up. This is a very challenging paper. I have just passed on my 4th attempt, at 45% it is purely exam technique. The only advice I can offer is exam practice, exam practice, exam practice and answer everything. The time pressure is your biggest enemy in this paper, the more experience you have of answering questions within time the better.

    Good luck.

I think the time pressure on the P4 exam is the key factor. You really need to start with the workings and writings right away. There is not much time over to read and think about your answers. To be able to do this you need to be pretty comfortable with the syllabus and the concepts. The calculations need to be automatic and you don’t have time to try to remember how to use the formulas.

Fail for the 3rd times, will retake it this september again, any clue to pass P4? Too much stress with review the same paper for term.
