thank you very much for the insight

You have to answer the question they set and not what you want them to ask. That’s simple, but important to comprehend and the examiner mentions this in his report in almost every exam.

Time management is paramount. I spent 5 extra minutes on Q2 (1st question I attempted), and I needed around an extra 5 minutes for Q3 (last question I attempted). Even if you haven’t finished a question, once the allotted time is up, you finish your sentence and move on.

Don’t waffle. Waffling is for breakfast.

Use the correct format. If it’s a report, which it normally is, write as a report. The 4 professional marks are EASY marks. I left 4 blank pages so that I could work on the calculations at the end of the question, then I went back to write the report. It is always better to leave too many pages than too few.

It is better to dedicate time to think about what you want to write, and write that, than to just write willy nilly. That won’t get you many marks and you’ll waste a lot of time and hand muscles.

If you are spending too long on Q1 because of writing the report or doing the calculations, then you are going to work in order to improve that time. With more practise, it’ll be easier and you’ll find you understand more.

    Hope that helps.

thank you very much for your advice

Passed 60% Affiliate now. was dead sure it will be a marginal pass or fail, at 49 or 50. messed up the exam big time with loads of blunders, mismanagement of time and wrong interpretation of questions but honestly this June 16 attempt of P4 was the most simplest if you compare with the past papers. straight forward questions. but P4 has its unique tactics of forcing mental breakdown 1 hr into the exam.

Failed unfortunately ! But oh well, I can only continue trying hard for it. P4 is the only paper between me and being fully qualified.. Congratulations to all those who had gone through it; and for those who didn’t make it, let’s continue trying hard for it 🙂

got 50% and done with exams. Thank you so much Open tuition. I attempted that question on interest rate hedging and i am confident i got good marks in this one because i only got to attempt this one option question and the compulsory question. I didnt understand this hedging thing until i really sat and listened and understood the lecture. It made it sooo easy to understand. thanks so much again for providing these lectures for free.

    Alhamdulillah.
    P3-62
    P4-61
    P7-46

Hints for my success in P4.

    * Regularly 5 hours studies per day.
    * Doing past paper questions on a topic as and when I complete studies on a chapter. Ex- Say, If I complete Option Pricing, I go and search for questions on Option Pricing.
    * From this I developed how to quickly pick up the relevant information for our answers.
    * This practice really helped me for my time management. I restricted myself with an appropriate time for each part of the questions.* I did not leave any single discursive elements from the paper. I guess and wrote something which I did not know much but ensured I was relating my answers to the scenario given by the examiner. I felt, no point of writing something that I know instead of writing something what the examiner really expect from me.
    * Attempted the whole paper.

Hope, you got something frm this.
Add me too in ur prayers !!

    Passed with 50%.
Thank you GOD and than thanks a lot to Opentuttion. It was one of the greatest assets during my ACCA studies thank you very much.

    God bless you all.

For those that didn’t passed this time, don’t give up. For my P6 exam I was able to pass only at my 4th time.
Persistence is key in ACCA studies.

    Best regards,
    Remzi
