Passed with 56% at 4th attempt. This time around I worked on my time management and that’s what I focussed on in my exam as well. I had no issue with my knowledge but it was always a time management issue for me. I started practising under time pressure and it increased my % by a lot, it enabled me to pass.As Barack Obama said, persistence and resilience are key to success, so to those of you who keep failing like how I did: make sure you keep trying, keep practising under time pressure by using your smart phone to count back .e.g. start with doing 25mark questions then the 50mark questions, cover all areas of the syllabus.
I’m so happy I didn’t give up. So many times I wanted to give up ACCA but determination is key, you have to keep going, keep fighting.
Thanks to those students who do post about their exam techniques and advices throughout Opentuition, you never know which student you help with achieving a pass mark with your tips and advices.
3 papers to go.
Good luck to you all.
Hi can you please share what did you mean by “worked on time management?” Let say if we need to allocate only 45 mins for question with 25 marks, what did u do if you over the limit? Learn to make you answer shorter but contentful, or just practise to write faster?
January 17, 2017 at 1:47 pm #367926Passed at first attempt and now an affiliate. Did self study, full time employee, married and a mother of 4 boys, never failed a single paper. Sat for my first exam in June 2014 and finished ACCA in exactly 2 years and half. Determination is key. Revise alot of exam papers and learn the exam technique.TIME MANAGEMENT IS KEY AS WELL. Glory be to God.
To all those that are still studying I can only say all the best

I passed it at 51, my third attempt in two years (my daughter just turned two), so its was agonising to sacrifice time with the new born toddler for study, but we got here
January 18, 2017 at 8:11 am #368088@Soho Congratulations!!! how many more left to go and which ones? I have straight away embarked on my MBA with Heriot University, Distance learning (again self taught) hopefully I make it. As an affiliate you get given generous exemptions out of 9 that I should have sat for will sit for 5.

seriously, its just really a test of how fast you can read and write in Eng, bit of a disadvantage really for non-native speakers… have to battle your way through it smartly
good luck with your endeavours

its agonising to sacrifice time with the new born toddler for the study, but somehow i got here now
P3 sucks if Eng is not your mother tongue or you are not natural in Eng essay writing, I am confident about my knowledge but the time pressure is just immense.
its really a challenge of driving through as many as points by writing the shortest sentences possible
January 20, 2017 at 1:58 am #368479I sat for p1, p2 and p3 but I passed only p1 ! I am so frustrated. I got 43 in p3 and this was my first attempt. Among these 3 exams, I thought I did best in p3 but it turned out 43…. I am devastated. this is the first time I have ever failed in any exam!
