PASS!!! 64% first attempt!!! I felt 50-50 as to whether I passed but so pleased I got the “beast” exam out of the way. I saw a few things on social media and on forums that it was an “easy” P2 paper. Be interesting to know the overall pass mark

56% pass first attempt 😉 I am so excited as I was moving home and really short time to prepare for the exam. Couldn’t complete all BPP lectures but thanks to Chris Barlow and his brilliant lectures,
I understood it enough to pass . Thank you so much Chris !

Hope all are fine. How many candidates attempted Q4 and passed?

I did Q2 and Q4 as Q3 had some big marker on the difference between UK and IFRS.

    77%
over the moon. I know its annoying when people say this but I came out of it thinking i had failed. I did the UK version and clearly hadn’t revised difference between IFRS and FRS enough.

    Passed with 53%!

    That’s with leaving out Q2 and only doing Q1 & Q3

If you didn’t make it KEEP GOING – don’t give up! Was my 2nd attempt.

I had a 10 month old baby to handle on my own whilst revising so was relay tough!

Thanks to open tuition for all your help x

Congratulations to all of you who passed! Well one.

I just started studying for the June P2 sitting last week or so. Please could those of you who passed give me advice as to how best to prepare for this paper? I only have one chance to sit this exam and pass it before they convert it into another paper/rename it so I have to nail it. I am a single mum with a full time job. I would appreciate any advice re how to make a good quality summary of all the standards as they are very very detailed. Thank you.

ds3ce I made A5 posters of each standard and posted them round the house. The earlier you start this the better. This forces you to summarise each standard (I used Kaplan books) and pull out important parts. Sticking it around the house helps for you to stare at when you’re cooking /brushing your teeth etc and for me helps me absorb it.

For Q1, just practise practise practise. I did every P&L / SOFP in the kaplan revision book. This also helps prepare you for Part A. At first one part A would take me over 2 hours with open textbook. But by the end I was doing it in required time. (1.8mins x50)

For part B make sure you can actually explain standards rather than just do calculations based on them. Unfortunately this requires a lot of memorising. Again just do as many practise questions as you can stand and you will start to pick it up. I tried to do one every day even if it was only part A or B.

I passed with 77% whilst also doing P5.

Hi ds3ce. Firstly, be very good at consolidations (P&L, Group, Sub-sub etc). If you sat F7 a while ago, make sure you spend some time going over the basics of that again.
Additionally, make sure you know enough about group cash-flows just in case it appears. As you say, you’ve got one shot before the syllabus changes and the Group CF statement lends itself to a lot of “easy” marks if you know the basics.
My personal view is that if you’re very good at groups this is one of the few “P” papers where you can make up time for the other areas (I had 15 mins to spare on this and have written to the end of 3 other P papers).
Also, do what OT recommend (it worked for me) – work backwards on the paper (Q2,3/4 first) and then the “big” Q1 paper last.
Know something about everything – arguably the OT videos are the best I could find on Financial Instruments.
Lastly – and I’m sure you know as you’ve got this far…practice, practice, practice. Get through the learning as quickly as possible and into revision.
Good luck to you – it’s not easy with a child (I have a 4 year old and a massively supportive wife so I’m blessed). However, I also work full time as an FD so I do appreciate the pressures.
Very best of luck and if I can offer any more help then please just post.
    Kind Regards

    Chris

My one piece of advice is question practice!! Practice as many Q’s as physically possible and read model answers.

Aim to nail the Section A consolidation question and pick up the rest of the marks to pass in the other sections as the other sections can be very very nasty and makes the exam hard to pass if you don’t score well on the consolidation.

I passed first attempt with 74%.

    Good Luck!
