Failed P1 with 46 marks. Looking at the pass rate it was obviously easily done if you are clever enough. Due to sit P2 in Sept but thinking of quitting, P1 is meant to be the easiest of all P papers so if I can’t do that what chance do I stand with the rest. Such a shame.

    @Donna

    Don’t give up. I failed P1 1st time with 43%.

Firstly I give praise to God. This is my second attempt but I used only open tuition books throughout. I am saying big thank you for providing free resources.

Thank you for the encouragement @dbsk1980 but I am only taking 1 paper at a time due to work commitments, whereas I expect you and many others are taking 2,3 or 4 at a time!! I gave this paper everything I had and I think perhaps the P’s are just a little bit out of my league!

Hey! Don’t lose faith in yourself. Something I know is that how easy/hard any of these papers are is very subjective. And, they’re all very different papers too – P1 is all about Governance and risk (got to be the most boring paper to have to study for in my opinion).

P2 is all about knowing and being able to apply your accounting standards – far more interesting than P1 (again, in my opinion).

Out of P1 – P3, P2 has the reputation for being the most difficult, but I found that for me, P3 was the most difficult to get through.

So don’t pay any attention to anything you hear about which paper is the easiest/hardest to get through.

And whatever you do, don’t give up.

Bill the Butcher, did you fail this too?

I only got 37%, I cannot believe it.

Donna, I’m in a similar position to you… I put absolutely everything into this exam, only did the one exam to make sure I’d pass it.

I felt so confident beforehand, and I thought the exam was such a nice paper, and was so happy with it when I came out.

I attempted every question, sticking to time, planned every question before attempting it, even went on to a second answer booklet…

    And still only achieved 37%!

This makes me want to give up also, maybe I’m just not smart enough for the P papers 🙁

Just a thought though… I’m not sure I completed the information on the front of my second answer booklet before the person came round to snatch it from my hands…

Any chance that it may not have been marked?

Or am I now just clutching at straws!?

Passes in P1 in first attempt with 58 marks, though prepared for more better, but paper did not go well and have left paper of about 22 marks due to shortage of time.

    Anyways, happy with my result.
    Thank you Mike.

    Yes 🙁

It was easy, its just that I did not put in everything I could, took it easy… i left out a few questions too because of poor time management…

and I failed by few marks only (3)

If you had put in everything & got 37%, I believe its ur way of answering the question that has not pleased the examiner,

The P-levels require a different style of writing than the F-levels, with a few headings and straight to the point answers in professional writing, you make it easy for the examiner to give u the marks.. its only thing I can think of looking at your post, and if ur thorough with the content of P1, u will surely pass it in ur next sitting.. 🙂

    @Donna

Its different for everyone, few find this easy, others don’t, this also later makes it easy for you to decide what specific sector / industry ur looking to get into, some are good in Audit for example & reporting etc ( therefore they find the P3, P1, P7 & F8 easy)

Some like Risk, Calculus & forecasts etc, so they’d be interested in F9, P4 & P5..

    Some who love tax (F6 & P6)

The point: u may not find the P1 easy, but u may be good in P4 and 5 where many find it difficult, so giving up is not an option 🙂

Passed P1 with 51% on second attempt up from 47%. Thought I had nailed this exam, could not of been more prepared. Bit disappointed with the mark but a pass is a pass! Really struggled with this exam, no problem on any of the others thus far.

I would tend to agree that it must be my technique, but with my learning provider I completed two course exams (both passed) and sat a mock exam just one week before in exam conditions and got 63%.

I did the same in the exam, planning my answers first, with many headers and straight-to-the-point paragraphs.

I just really don’t understand how I scored so low.

Do ACCA send marked scripts back to you?

    That would help a lot.

They don’t, but u can request for a review if you really believe that there has been some incorrect marking in ur case (although highly unlikely),

I believe the procedure is detailed on Acca Website.

Good luck with whatever u plan ahead, But Don’t give up !! lol !! Don’t !

m sure u can pass it easily in the second attempt if u already have so much of practice in this paper as u hav mentioned^

@donna just like you I can’t afford to write more than 1-2 papers due to time constraint. I had a shabby prep but passed first attempt with 60%. I advice you read more of examiners technical articles.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time and effort to offer, advice, encouragement and support following my postings. This is my first fail at an ACCA exam and it has hit me hard.

I only use Open Tuition and BPP text/revision books as I am not supported by my employer to pay for course tuition.

I intend to give it some more thought tomorrow after the shock of today has passed, although the thought of not revising for the next 12 months is appealing! There is also a part of me that wanted the qualification so much, but I just need to work out if I am capable of achieving it before I throw more money at exams.

    Thank you all ?
