I have heard lots about ACCA doing more exams per year ie 4 a year having them every 3 months. I have tried looking on the ACCA website but doesn’t have any information on this? Does anyone know if this is going to happen for definite? I have a very busy life and only able to do one exam at a time, as I want to be sure I spend enough time to pass first time.

i think they are not going to do that, reason been they need to control the offer and demand of certified accountants.
They might be force to do that when more competition comes in

It has been discussed, and CIMA do it. I think ACCA will do it eventually, but they have not set a date yet

I have read a few articles that have mentioned it, I think SA had an article

If the other bodies start to allow it, such as CIMA, then ACCA will lose students to them, which I imagine is happening anyway as CIMA increases in popularity. I know more people that study CIMA than ACCA these days

@ yared my point is I want to do more each year rather than wait 6 months, I’d like to do one at a time but have the exams closer together

Guys your late to this party, ACCA have consulted heavily on adding another 2 exam sittings and my understanding is that it will happen. I believe that its going to be next year 2015, they have not yet published if the extra sittings will be for resits or first attempts yet (CIMA only have 2 first sitting sessions, may and Nov and the other 2 are for resits)

They never said that it was definite for 2014.

They are now targeting it for late 2015 or 2016, but it is not yet certain.

They are also expanding computer based exams – F4 will be the first (in addition to F1, F2 and F3) in late 2014. Others will follow. They will be available on demand at any time.

Just before December 2013 exams, I’ve heard from one of the current Marker and Articles writer of ACCA that, there was a discussion about 4 exams per year. However, this may implement to “P” level exams only. But no definite dates or policy had been finalised by that date.

The latest statement on it from the ACCA was earlier this week.

What they have said is what I have written above !!

(The expansion of computer based exams only applies to the F papers – the intention is that all of the F papers will be offered as computer based, although this will take some time.)

    to be fair, and to correct some inaccurate comments above;

during February 2013 a senior ACCA member, Director of Education Clare Minchington, did put on the record during an interview that ACCA intended to have 4 sittings a year from 2014 onwards. Clearly this has been dropped or delayed, unfortunately.

Claire Minchington certainly did not commit to the ACCA having four sittings a year.

She did say that they were aiming for four sittings, and that is still the case, but it will not happen in 2014. Certainly at least one accountancy magazine misquoted her as though it was a commitment to four sitting in 2014, but that was not what she said.

I therefore do not know what ‘inaccurate comments’ you are correcting!

However, it is rather irrelevant anyway – it is up to the ACCA to decide when and whether to offer four sittings a year.

CIMA do 4 sittings per year, however 2 of these sitting are for resits only. The main siitings in May and November for for first attempts only and then the other 2 are for resits only

The ACCA is intending to offer computer exams for all of the F papers in the next few years. That will mean that for those people who have access to CBE there will be no need for 4 sittings because they will be able to take exams on demand.

The problem they have is providing exams for people who do not have access to CBE. However, I am guessing that once they do have CBE for all the F exams then they will introduce 4 paper sittings.

However, that is just my guess 🙂
