I failed FR my second attempt i am really down the March exams was difficult i need recent note to pass June exams i need help. Thanks
April 15, 2019 at 1:36 pm #512836Passed with 64% first attempt, self study. Thank you Open tuition! Really so helpful articles and videos!
April 15, 2019 at 1:52 pm #512844@conteh123 start next time your exam with the Part C directly and make sure you don’t spend more than 1 hour there! If you are beyond 1,5 hour for Part C – leave it. It is time for Part A and Part B. Do quickly the questions in Part A and B you know, skip (!!) the one you are not sure yet and which seem too complicated. You might be surprised that there some easy questions which you can actually do under less stress if you have a right strategy.
In the end go back to all skipped questions.
Good luck !!!!! Cross fingers for you!
April 15, 2019 at 2:05 pm #512866I failed FR for the 2nd time. Both attempts I got 47%
Any tips to get over the line?April 15, 2019 at 3:32 pm #512896alhamdulillah passed FR
April 15, 2019 at 3:48 pm #512900I passed FR (CBE) with 61 marks. Thank you OpenTuition and Mr Chris Barlow. I am making a donation and encouraging others to donate too to help OpenTuition to continue to provide relevant and free support. I am now moving on to FM.
April 15, 2019 at 4:21 pm #512927I do the same – first Section C and easy A and B. I agree it is really good strategy
April 15, 2019 at 4:26 pm #512928Hi,
Currently preparing for FR. This is my first exam in ACCA as i have exemptions for others.
I am comfortable with open tuition and Chris is excellent.
Can you or somebody please let me know whether you have used BPP/Kaplan for practicing more questions? Thanks
Vijay MenonApril 15, 2019 at 4:44 pm #512934@Vijay: depends on your level.
For me only opentuition would NOT be enough.I remember that some details explained in the Kaplan book have been missed on opentuition. So, I learned theory from Kaplan book, if I had questions – I watched opentuition videos. At the same time, I found some strategy on opentuition ( i.e the impairment and revaluation method Mike has explained in his video) easier to grasp than in the book.
Lastly, my subjective opinion – stick to one major source of studying. Don’t study BPP and Kaplan and Opentuition all at the same time. It will be very confusing, as different providers suggest slightly different calculation technics (methods?) to come to the same results.
Good luck!!
April 15, 2019 at 5:29 pm #512939I passed FR 57%
April 15, 2019 at 5:30 pm #512940Hi everyone,
Congrats to all who have passed.
Am currently preparing for June exam, so your experience in March exam for sure will help.
Am Using OpenTuition lectures because they motivate me and give me understanding and then go to Kaplan study Text, but that is taking me a lot of time. and
Will Open Tuition be enough for me to pass the exam ? what you guys have used for preparing ?
Please share with us your studying strategies and materials usedApril 15, 2019 at 5:33 pm #512941Thanks for your helpful tips.
So do you think sticking with OT and Kaplan study text is enough in grasping all ideas and pass the exam ?April 15, 2019 at 5:34 pm #512942@mazai said:

So do you think sticking with OT and Kaplan study text is enough in grasping all ideas and pass the exam ?April 15, 2019 at 6:06 pm #512947Passed 1st time with 81% using Kaplan Study Text and some OpenTuition videos for more difficult topics (and to pass time on the train).
Quite surprised as wasn’t sure I justified my conclusions enough on the Lemon & Lime question around investment decisions but happy nonetheless. I can’t remember if it was Lemon or Lime but I recommended the well established boutique fashion company based on their increased potential to expand online, more profitable margins, and lower capital.
Onto A&A next!

Congrats. What is pass time on the train ?
Did you use any revision kit or practiced through prior exams ?April 15, 2019 at 7:07 pm #512959CBE Exam, passed with 56% at first attempt.
Used Open Tuition for explanation and understanding and Kaplan exam kit for practice questions.
Thanks Open Tuition for the great help.April 15, 2019 at 7:13 pm #512960Hi,
I suggests you use Open Tuition for understanding and explanation. Then move to kaplan exam kit for practice questions.
No need to use kaplan study text, this will takes lot of time. The exam questions (theory) will cover 80% of the theory that you need to learn from the study text.
Thats what i do and technique i used for FR.
Learned from Open Tuition and practiced questions from Kaplan all within 1 month. That was enough to score 56%.
If you take more time (3 months) and practice enough questions, you can get a better resuls.
Hope that helps,
ThanksApril 15, 2019 at 9:36 pm #512981Passed on my second attempt at FR with 55% – so relieved.
Good luck to everyone who is going to resit – don’t give up!

Did you use any revision kit or practiced through prior exams ?Thank you! Passing time is an idiom that means occupying time. I occupy the time I spend travelling on the train with Open Tuition lectures.
I used the Kaplan study kit with study text, revision kit, and pocket sized notes. I read the study text and completed all exercises then moved onto the revision kit where I focused on my weak areas.
April 15, 2019 at 11:39 pm #512985Passed first time – 54% with 6 weeks to learn and revise… I didn’t feel 100% prepared! I found this module fairly difficult… and didn’t enjoy it either, but this may have been a little easier if I’d spent more than 6 weeks learning.
Found the actual exam very hard, and was expecting a fail – but am so relieved I passed! Onto A&A!
(I used opentuition, Kaplan text book)April 16, 2019 at 8:45 am #513030Thank you so much for your support. I completed FR with 51% marks
April 16, 2019 at 12:35 pm #513060Thanks to Opentuition Lecturers passed with 56% on my first attempt.
April 16, 2019 at 4:14 pm #513109April 16, 2019 at 10:10 pm #513179Alhamdulillah, passed with 53%
Thank you Chris and OpenTuition for the amazing lectures 🙂
April 17, 2019 at 3:25 am #513196I took the exam in a rush in my 1st attempt — 30 days to prepare on DIY basis — some help with OpenTuition video lectures and my revision test bank, plus ACCA past webinars. Part C did badly, only manage to do 1/3 of a question out of the 2 questions. Obtained 35 % mark only.
