January 15, 2018 at 12:23 pm #429999I give thanks to my God, I got 51% and thanks to F6 Lecture and OT
January 15, 2018 at 12:45 pm #430013some tips to pass F6 are:-
1. Read technical articles on F6 (mine was UK version, lots of technical articles topics on ACCA website) – read them many times until you understand – they are helpful in understanding the topics & how to apply the knowledge in the exam questions. Work through each & every example in technical articles.
2. After reading the entire study text ( I used BPP study text) do all questions in both study text and practice & revision kit (BPP) at least twice over. it will help you learn speed & also get familiar with exam style questions & the answers expected, so that you get no surprises in the exam.
3. Watch Open Tuition lectures and learn from them, if you don’t grasp a topic repeat it so you get it – repeating helped me understand some topics better.
4. Areas concerning dates & tax administration, re-read in last days towards exam to refresh memory, trying to rote-learn them earlier will not really help much, as I would get frustrated when I could not recall the exact details of the tax administration part but towards exam it get easier to recall.
5. Exam technique is crucial, be strict with your time but don’t rush the MCQ’s you need to understand exact requirement before answering all questions – I actually did not finish section C left a sub-part & half a number undone! I know I did not manage my time well in the exam & learnt from that experience, I was probably saved by MCQs in section A & B which I tried to do as well as possible.
F6 syllabus is broad but you can pass it, I passed on first attempt but you have to go through the study material & practice exam questions more than twice & manage exam time.
I was not familiar with UK taxation before this F6 paper but learnt all about it & passed, you can too, just never give up – invest time, effort & exam technique in this paper & you will pass it.
Hope the tips above help you & best of luck for your next exams.

January 15, 2018 at 1:13 pm #43004173% passed in first attempt,thanks OT <3
January 15, 2018 at 1:55 pm #43006964% pass
January 15, 2018 at 3:08 pm #430100Passed with 60% and first attempt.
Thanks to amazing open tuition lectures but also used kaplan text book although I found there wasn’t a need for it as the lectures and notes covered the syllabus sufficiently. Plus kaplan revision kit.January 15, 2018 at 4:36 pm #430143Amount of time I have input, just makes it not worth it. Will try again.
January 15, 2018 at 4:44 pm #430149I have done pretty much what you have said, point to point. I do know my exam skills are not good. But still I feel very disappointed!!
January 15, 2018 at 4:55 pm #430153Not sure if this will help, because it basically means you need to cover the whole syllabus, but you will defo get inheritance, cap gains and vat in section B. Make sure you know business cap gains.
Section C: Most likely a difference question of employed vs self employed for the 10 marker and I got a corporation tax question, including losses and a personal income tax question. The one common thing in section C for me was that they all needed a capiatl allowance working, which, if you know how to do it, accounts for about 9 marks out of the 40 in section C.Good luck.
January 15, 2018 at 5:05 pm #430155Hi, I have the BPP text book which is for the exams up to march 2017.Is this still OK to use? As I am planning to retake the F6 exam in March.
Many thanks
