Hey everyone,
I am planning to sit for F6 ACCA exam this December.
However, due to lack in time, i was thinking to skip BPP study guide and opentuition lectures and use ONLY opentuition notes and BPP exam kit’s practice questions!
Do you think this would be sufficient to pass the F6 examination?Thank you in advance for your assistance on this matter,
Best Regards from Greece
September 19, 2016 at 2:59 pm #340930Hi, it would be better to ask this kind of questions in the relevant forum.
For the UK variant OT lectures and notes are simply brilliant, simple and comprehensive, you really shouldn’t need anything else apart from an up-to-date revision kit.
The tutor follows a step by step approach and at beginning of each lecture provides a quick recap of the previous one.
In the notes there are also suggested questions (included in the notes) to test your understanding at the end of the chapter. There are many details to be remembered but overall the paper is not difficult, just a matter of applying rules. There are some written bits in the exam but the paper is predominately computational.
I prepared it in 3 months and scored 80%.
Hope that helps.September 20, 2016 at 10:23 am #341002Thank you very much Palmy for your response!
Do u think i could skip the lectures and read only the notes?
and afterwards go to the exam kit for practice tests?
Is that possible to do?I am saying this coz OT lectures are approximately 45 hours!!
Regards
September 20, 2016 at 3:06 pm #341036Hi,
Even I am planning to sit for F6 instead of F5 in December 2016. I already took some tuition classes for F6 back in March 2016 for June 2016 exam session but could not sit for the exam and now the Finance Act is also changed but I think the method for calculating tax is still same only the difference in values. This would be first time I am using OT lectures and notes along with latest revision kit for F6.
Thanks palmy for your response about F6 and sharing your exam success with the help of OT.
Hope OT works for me as well and prepared to score very good marks in the exam.
Could anyone help in deciding which revision kit would be best for practicing F6 questions?

Honestly, I don’t think that is advisable.
OT course notes are supposed to be used with the video lectures.
As I mentioned in many of my previous posts, I self studied for all papers, from F2 to P3, and never used a study text but I have always watched all the lectures, more than once, if needed. You can try, though… Read the notes carefully, attempt the exercises and then all the relevant questions in your kit.
If you find yourself struggling, watch the lectures.

In my opinion it does not matter what revision kit you go for… as long as it is up-to-date and you practise all the questions over and over again.
September 20, 2016 at 9:54 pm #341066@palmy: Thanks for your opinion.
If I can solve the revision kit successfully with the help of OT lectures and notes, then I am all set for the exam and do not need study text at all.

Have a nice day!
September 21, 2016 at 3:21 pm #341230I need an advice from both of you especially from palmy. I want to start preparation for F6 but confused from where to begin. I am ready to use OT materials for F6 and will also buy up-to-date revision kit in few days. I am worried because of shortage of time to prepared for F6 because there is lot of things to cover in F6. Even I am ready to study for any other Fundamental level paper instead of F6.
Thanks
September 21, 2016 at 5:43 pm #341249I’m not sure I understand what you find confusing?… you should start from the below link:
https://opentuition.com/acca/f6/acca-f6-lectures/
I am not in a position to tell you if 2.5 months will be enough for you to be well prepared. It depends on your study method, the quantity and quality of time that you can dedicate to studying, your motivation…
I prepared F6 in pretty much the same amount of time, while working full time.
Of course, that included studying before or after working hours, on week-ends and every possible public holiday. Is anything preventing you from starting today and committing yourself to a tight schedule?
Also, are you suggesting that other papers would be easier than F6?
Maybe…but that really is a matter of personal preferences!
I personally consider F4, F6 and F8 to be the easiest F papers.
However, other students might strongly disagree…You have also mentioned that you already took some tuition classes for F6 not that long ago… That is a good starting point!
Why would you want to start from scratch with another, totally new, paper?I think that you should just make your choice and stick to it. I hope that helps.
Good luck.

You are welcome! All the very best!!
September 21, 2016 at 9:19 pm #341275I self studied for F4 with the help of Kaplan study text and revision kit. I used to study daily for F4 and completed the whole study text with solved revision kit, then I was revising over and over again. Now I did not study anything for last 10 days because of lack of motivation.
If there is anything that stop me to start studying again is lack of motivation and mostly procrastination. I need to overcome before its too late. I believe this is the only reason why I am left with this amount of time to prepare for F6 and F4 as well. I need to commit myself to a very tight schedule in which I have to spend 2-3 hours daily for studies.
I am not sure about other papers at all. Because F6 syllabus is very lengthy so I thought maybe other paper would be easily covered in this amount of time for Decemeber session. But now I think its better to continue with F6 and sit for the exam, then I will start the next paper from scratch until I clear the exam and never leave anything in the middle.
The main problem in my case is to stick with the schedule. I am also working but can easily manage to spare time for studies but motivation and procrastination stops me.
Thank you
September 22, 2016 at 11:12 am #341367Exactly like Palmy said, papers’ elvel of difficulty is sthg really subjective.
To my perspective and having studied every other F pa[er from F5 to F9,
F6 seems to be the less lengthy and demanding one. It surely requires dedication and commitment, but i believe if you schedule your studying and practise wel, you will do just fine!!
My humble opinion on the matter…September 25, 2016 at 2:58 pm #341632Thanks for your opinion.
I am studying F6 for Decemeber 2016 with the help of OT video lectures and notes.
