October 20, 2015 at 5:37 am #277709First attemp with F5 and that was the last F module. I had been very confident before went to exam hall. After 3 hours writing and comparing the estimated result with my friends, I was really depressed and believed that I would fail the F5 exam although I registered to participate the P5 exam this December. However the result really surprised me with 67%.

I used Open Tuition and BPP revision kit. I would say practice questions half the battle . Everything I read said time would be a big factor to watch and it is , ensure you have a strategy including best use of 15 mins reading time . Theory just as important as calculations on this one ! Also questions themselves are lengthy in text so take time to break them down , a minor piece of information amidst all that text can be vital . In relation to answers, I followed BPP the most , but I think when listing reasons just keep reasonably short, to the point and very often required to reference to case study in question . Also as someone else mentioned, be a harsh marker !! The best of luck !

Hi,
From what I recall:
– 10 marks cost gap – the steps in process
– 10 marks – minimax regret decision rule, very tricky
– 15 marks- breakeven chart (drawing chart) calculate breakeven point, margin of safety etc.
– 15 marks – planning and operational variances,October 20, 2015 at 9:36 am #277779@wasiq8989 said:

October 20, 2015 at 1:36 pm #277828Pass! Little disappointed with the mark though. I’m guessing multiple choice and the performance management Q are the reason.
October 20, 2015 at 2:04 pm #277832October 20, 2015 at 3:35 pm #277850Now my next papers are F6, F7 and F8 in December 2015
October 20, 2015 at 6:02 pm #277896@ mike0943. I got 66% first attempt self study . Despite my own advice on timing strategy , I spent too long on an early question that I messed up initially and ran out of time so didn’t get to 3 MCQ s so lost 6% straight off and was under serious pressure answering last few so assume made couple of errors . Open Tuition lectures v good but designed to teach overall understanding of a segment from start to finish but practice questions feel like starting over so don’t leave that too late !!!!
