Sir,
Please check my answer is correct. The following information is for X plc:
Budget Production 13,120units Actual Production 12,920 units
Budget fixed O/H $45,920 Actual fixed O/H $48,400
Budget labour hours 26,240 Actual labour hours 25,200What is the fixed o/h efficiency variance?
Actual hours worked 25,200
Std hours worked 26,240
-1040 x 1.75 = $1820 (F)November 15, 2014 at 11:50 am #210173standard hours worked 26240 / 13 120= 2H per unit
standard hours adapted to the actual production 2 X 12920 units = 25 840 hours
actual hours worked given 25 200
standard rate 45920/ 26 240= 1,75
o/H efficiency is (25 840 -25200) 1.75 = 1120(F)
hope it helps, its what I know and almost sure its the right answer but you can ask the tutor.

November 17, 2014 at 8:38 pm #210786Sir, can you help me out with this question please? How to calculate the learning rate when it is not given?
A company is intending to produce a new project.
They have made two “test” units- the first of them took 8 hours to make, and the second took 6 hours.
What is the learning rate? Please let me know how to calculate.
November 17, 2014 at 11:28 pm #210824formula learning rate= average hours per unit / hour to make first unit
average hours (8+6)/2 =7
learning rate r= 7/ 8= 87.5 %its what I know, ask tutor to ask tutor forum, he’ll help you if you not sure.

December 30, 2015 at 2:15 pm #293035Hello,
how do you derive o/h capacity variance for the same example?
ThanksDecember 30, 2015 at 5:53 pm #293053The workings for all of the answers to the mock exam are shown when you have finished the test.
If you have problems understanding them, then ask in the Ask the Tutor Forum.
(assuming, of course, that you have watched all of our free lectures – they are a complete course and cover everything needed to be able to pass Paper F5 well)
