Noor,
No you don’t need to know the acts by heart. What you need to know is what each Act was created for, their purpose. Just an understanding of them that’s all.
May 14, 2015 at 6:54 pm #245996Hi,
I am starting f4 global, has anyone done this exam as it seems that the Open Tuition doesn’t cover the whole course on online lectures ? Any advice welcome?
May 18, 2015 at 3:02 am #246723Hi Everyone, to self-study for this paper F4 CBE, how much time did you guys devote to prepare it?
Kind regards,
EmilyMay 18, 2015 at 3:08 am #246725Emily, takes about 2months max. All depends on how much you like theory I think. So if you’re a fan, you may take less than 2months
May 18, 2015 at 9:42 am #246799I gave my F4 global cbe exam and secured 80%, thank you mike sir for clearing all my doubts and for the wonderful lectures , it really helped me understand the topics and enjoy them
May 18, 2015 at 9:54 am #246801@allenmendonca – hi, did u only use the open tuition notes and lectures for f4? Which book did u use for mcqs? Kaplan or bpp?
May 18, 2015 at 3:22 pm #246900Can you choose to write computer based or paper based? or is it just computer based now?
May 22, 2015 at 1:19 pm #247952open question.
What is section B like for the CBE? presuming its still scenario based questions, but what are the answers like? surely its not as simple as picking 1 answer from say a choice of 4, which is then 6 marks?

Daniel:
If you had a revision kit using you would not ask such a question. I therefore suggest you urgently acquire one.
The questions in the revision kit are exactly as it would appear in the exam. Some of the same questions repeat, the only difference is that they may change the name in the scenario.
As it relates to section B:
For each section B question you get a scenario and about 3 or 4 questions coming from that scenario. Each of these little scenario question values either 1 or 2 marks depending on the complexity of the question, totaling up to the 6 marks.
That’s what makes up the questions in section B.
Now, take my foolish advise and go get a revision kit.
May 28, 2015 at 4:51 pm #249918I passed with 71 % yesterday F4 Global Variant.
My questions were primarily on the UNISG, Liquidation of a company, Fraudulent and Wrongful trading, international business instruments, Registration of a company, Directors powersBut may be 1/3 of the questions were on the UNISG.
My preparation: I read the BPP book 2 times, then very quick thirth time. I’ve done the Revision kit twice and finally on the day before the exam I read the Open tuition lecture notes
Good luck to all of you 🙂
May 28, 2015 at 9:06 pm #250013Akemaenuh,
Thanks for your advice, appreciated. I had the revision it already. Passed the exam today no problem.
What I meant with question B was that for the CBE it was spread out over 3 questions (all multiple choice) whereas in the revision kit or even the paper ones I had looked at what obviously written answers for section B. Nonetheless, multiple choice for section B was easier.May 30, 2015 at 1:44 pm #250536For MCQ practice i used the BPP revision kit, though they mostly test knowledge based questions and quite a few of the questions in the exams are scenario based, so be ready for that, i read the BPP text twice before attempting the exam, i went through the open tuition notes as a revision as everything is nice and brief and if any topic is unclear in the study text it is very well explained in open tuition notes and easy to understand, i listened to all the lectures for F4 Global as well before attempting the paper,
PS even though you don’t have to learn the case studies , make sure you understand all of them because some scenario questions are the exact case studies with different names
June 11, 2015 at 9:44 am #256309Hoping to do my F4 exams before the end of July. I feel determined and motivated after reading these comments.
Wishing all the other candidates all the very best for their exams. =)
June 11, 2015 at 6:56 pm #256467Hi Guys
I passed today with 55 – cant help feeling deflated as with all the mocks I had much higher marks.
Just didnt happen for me today 🙁
Oh well onto F7 – can anyone recommend text book BPP/Kaplan. I found that for F4 BPP had much more detail, so I am wondering if the same applies for F7.June 12, 2015 at 7:41 am #256530Hi guys…can you please tell me what to choose between F4-ENG and F4-GLOBAL?…I am from Romania and don’t know what would be best for me to choose…thank you!
June 14, 2015 at 10:04 am #256798Congratulations on your passing. I wrote paper-based F4 Global exam on 8th June and awaiting for the results. Regards. Ashok.

Don’t worry about the score – you passed and that’s what counts. I do know how you feel though as I sat the paper based last week and came out feeling very deflated. Was scoring in the eighties and nineties in the mocks but no chance with the actual one. At least you don’t have to wait months for the result so can crack on with the next one with a clear head.
As far as F7 is concerned, I used Kaplan (have done for all of them so far). Found it very good for F7 as it was for F6 which I did at the same time. But, that was under the old format (ie no MCQs) so I don’t know whether that will make a difference.
However, after doing F4 I felt that Kaplan let me down a bit as things came up in the exam which weren’t mentioned in the text book at all and everyone says BPP goes into more detail.
It’s difficult, part of me wants to try BPP for my next two (F8 and P2) but I’m wary of switching and I can’t afford both sets.
Everyone will always have personal preferences and it’s hard to judge unless you try both but the general concensus seems to be that BPP goes into a lot of background detail while Kaplan is clearer and simpler. So, for wordy papers (like F4) it may be better to go with BPP but for the more computational papers (like F7), Kaplan may be better.
Don’t know whether that will have helped at all!
June 14, 2015 at 4:02 pm #256824Hi Jenny
Thanks for the advise.
My F4 CBE was terrible – loads of stuff turned up I wasnt sure about – oh well, its done now.
I am going to have a week off and then start F7.
Sounds like you have nearly finished – well jealous lol.
I have only done F6 and F4 upto now.
I have paid for the BPP books now, going to try and work with them and the open tuition lectures before paying for anything else.
Lets hope you passed F4 too.June 14, 2015 at 5:18 pm #256834Thanks, hope so too!
I’ve done the same as you and paid for Kaplan books for F8 and P2, sticking with the same. I’ll probably do the same as last time though and buy the BPP revision kits for both also as it’s extra practice.
Don’t feel like I’m nearly finished though – feels like a long way to go yet and dreading the P papers. Just watched the first two F8 OT lectures while waiting for my books to turn up as I think I’m going to try for that in September and P2 in December as I started to get bored three days after my last exam! I’m obviously very sad!!
Good luck with F7 – I enjoyed that one as it’s very number orientated.
June 18, 2015 at 7:17 am #257562Where i can get f4 notes in opntution?
June 18, 2015 at 6:17 pm #257800just passed F4 CBE today with 57%, first attempt, worried about it before the exam because only got two weeks to prepare, thanks to Mike’s lecture and notes, went through them twice, some of the chapters for lectures are missing from the website so I just ignored them…..such as legal system, employment law, insolvency and administration. Although got a lot of questions for these parts but I don’t have time to read the text book. after got a basic view of the exam then bought revision kit and practised twice this week. I was the last one who finished the exam, marked all the questions in one hour and reviewed them in the second hour, changed two answers. I think the result would have be more or less 55% if I submitted it in one hour, but I was lack of self-confidence…..
questions I could remember:
3 statute law:
committee stage is one step of passing laws. by law.
4 contract law:
an advert offering a reward is an offer.
cross offer.
counter offer.
offer could be made to the world at large.
postal rule applies when….
consideration must have some identified value.
representations.
breach of conditions/warranties/innominate term.
exclusion clause, breach of contract, damges are in section B, background description is clear (a woman’s car was repaired in a garage and returned to the lady, but actually the car was still broken and the lady got a crash, ruined the car and got injured), questions couldn’t remember totally because I am confused and think lost all the 6 marks.
5 common law:
damages, action for price (CL), specific performance, injunction (E)
6 law of tort:
volenti non fit injuria
9 partnership:
LLP: has one unlimited liability partner? no.
one big question in section B.
10 company law:
inside trading
pre incorporation contracts
11 director and officers
age 70 is for public company not private company
special resolution includes….
12 meeting and resolutions
ordinary business includes….
90% shorten the notice period….
13 loan capital
Miked mentioned preferential share here, there is a big question in section B about it, couldn’t remember it sorry…
there must be some mistakes and for the questions I didn’t know I just randomly ticked a good-looking answer, so there is no chance I could remember them.
