December 9, 2013 at 7:42 am #151745I think this was the best paper have ever writen in my FIA exams, I finished early, by the time it was an hour remaining i started going back to the question I Ieft which where about 8 only. I hope to get high marks in this paper.
Thanks to Opentuition, your course notes helped me so much to catch up cause I started studying in October & only used your course notes & went through past papers only. 3 weeks before FAB exams, i even started revisions. It was the only paper i was attempting this semester.
When will FMA course notes be available for June 2014?
December 9, 2013 at 11:15 am #151769totally agree with u, over all paper was actually very easy with no weighty economics questions thankfully, but made so many silly mistakes. I also think the time given for this paper is too long, most of my first answers were right at first glance but then with 1hr and half spare time, I spent second guessing myself and changing my answers. they really should change this to 1hr 15mins exams.
December 9, 2013 at 2:34 pm #151799Hahaha Sharon I also started doing that, I changed for one question after finishing i stared going through again then though i marked a wrong answer, at last i thought i will start changing most answers I even closed the question paper & answer booklet.
When i reached home, i went through all question i could remember, so far none i got wrong. Just ready in preparation for FMA. I hope my results come as i expect!!!

I thankfully passed my FAB CBE this morning, and the selection of questions I had were taken from across the whole syllabus.
I would estimate that 75-80% of the questions were covered within the OpenTuition videos, the rest relied on either having read some course material or on other sources of knowledge. Some could be straight out guessed quite easily.
I think that if people work through the Open Tuition course, then they have a great chance of passing this exam. It is a very broad course, but relatively shallow in a lot of areas.
The questions in my exam were often geared to test understanding of definitions, and about 10 to 12 of them related to the various theories mentioned within the course. Only one question in my exam was about which author wrote which theory, so if you are not great with remembering names it might not be a total disaster.
If you have had some work experience, that would probably come in useful too, as you could reasonably work out how some of the scenario questions might be handled within the organisation that you have worked for.
If you haven’t covered every single subject in the syllabus, I wouldn’t panic. The spread of questions means that you can probably afford to guess a few if you have to.
I finished in about 30 minutes, and double checked my answers for another 15 minutes, so don’t worry if you finish quickly.
I know I changed at least one of my answers in my double checking from a right answer to a wrong one, because when I came out from the exam room, I checked the answer in my book. Be careful with second-guessing yourself, often your gut feeling can be right. Before I clicked ‘Exit’ I had hoped to score at the most 70% based upon my evaluation of how confident my answers were, I actually scored 74% so must have picked up a few extra right answers in my guesses.
Read the questions carefully, they seem to word some questions in a way that might lead to misunderstanding if you read them too quickly. You will have plenty of time in the exam, so if you want to park some questions it is easy to go back to them later. Sometimes you might get another question later in the exam that will help identify the correct answer for an earlier question.
My tip is to use a sheet of workings paper and write out in pencil a grid of numbers from 1 through 50.
As you work through the questions, circle the numbers that you are confident with your answer, and put a square or triangle about those questions which you are not so happy with your answer. After you have gone through the full 50 questions, look back over your grid and revisit the non-circled questions first as they are the ones to perhaps review, but unless you are really sure to change your first answer, probably best to leave it as it is.Good luck to everyone else taking this exam.
