Hi,
I am starting to appear in my AccA exams this June 2014, I have my brother’s Acca Books for F1-F3 from the year 2010.
IS IT OKAY to refer those books & prepare for the exams or i still have to get the new books for 2013 ?
Please help me out so that i can order the Study texts soon. Thanks π
Amithesh
January 3, 2014 at 12:38 am #153688i think it would be wise to get new books for F11 to F3 as the syllabus might have changed since 2010
January 3, 2014 at 5:46 am #153691The syllabuses have indeed changed, and so best will be to get new books.
January 3, 2014 at 2:57 pm #153725Apparently, i dont get books in India for BPP or KAPLAN until i have to import them and pay the double price on each book including delivery charges.
Would you’ll recommend GET THROUGH GUIDE study text, they are also ALP content with GOLD rating.
Thanks for the advise people π
January 3, 2014 at 3:11 pm #153727I don’t know Get Through Guide books and so I can’t advise on them – I am sure they must be OK.
BPP (and probably Kaplan) can be bought as electronic copies if that helps (although it then means reading them on computer because there is a limit to how much you can print out.The main book you need is the Revision/Exam Kit with lots of questions in. The Study Text is less important if you use the OpenTuition Course Notes together with the lectures on here. They are not so big as the Study Texts, but they have enough to be able to pass the exams well.

January 25, 2014 at 10:05 am #154430Sir John, I am new to acca and i have bpp books of f1 and f3 but i can’t found lectures and tests on opentution.com according to bpp syllabus. Please help me in this regard. What can i do?
January 25, 2014 at 10:22 am #154431one more question sir, if i read and listen lectures on opentution.com so its not necessary to read the whole text from text books because its too lenghty and i can’t understand what is important and what is unimportant. And if i read and listen lectures on opentution along with little help from text books then how much percenatge i wil get in exams?Because i am good in studies and always achieved 80 to 85 percent marks througout my academic career,so that’s why i am little concious about my percentage.
January 25, 2014 at 10:47 am #154435actually i am studying at home by myself so its very important for me to know that can i depend more on opentution.com and take little help from text books?
January 25, 2014 at 11:08 am #154437It is impossible to guess what mark you will get in the exam (although to get 80 to 85% in all ACCA exams would be remarkable – they are hard exams).
Our Course Notes and lectures are not meant to replace Study Texts. However, provided that you fully understand our notes and lectures then there is no reason not to get a high mark in the exam.
The one book you do need is a Revision/Exam Kit from an approved publisher because it is vital to practice as many questions as possible.January 25, 2014 at 4:53 pm #154447thank you sir for your reply. And i have the revision/exam kit.
March 1, 2014 at 1:09 pm #161189i got 2012-13 F3 book..so may i be able to appear for exam studying this book as the syllabus is changed though..
March 1, 2014 at 1:16 pm #161190The only syllabus change is that the Income Statement is now called Statement of Profit or Loss.
The format of the exam has changed but that has no effect on the syllabus or your learning.
March 1, 2014 at 1:22 pm #161194okk thanks a lot for the info..that means im okay with this book…?? And may i know about F2 syllabus..?
March 1, 2014 at 1:26 pm #161196Yes – you are OK.
The F2 syllabus has not changed – only the format of the exam.October 11, 2014 at 11:36 am #204150sir i hve kaplan Acca book f2 2011 is that ok to use in 2014
October 11, 2014 at 12:56 pm #204159No – there have been changes to the syllabus since 2011.
However, you do not need a Study Text if you intend to watch our free lectures (with our free Course Notes).
But you do need a new Revision/Exam Kit because they contain lots of exam-standard questions to practice on, and practice is vital.

February 3, 2015 at 2:01 pm #225022Hi John,
I am quite new to open tuition, i am looking at self study. what study books would you recommend for F1 -F3 please?.

February 3, 2015 at 5:49 pm #225062If you watch our lectures and study our lecture notes you only need revision kits from one of the approved publishers so that you can have question practice.
(Sorry, John’s reply has gone astray somewhere.)
February 4, 2015 at 9:20 am #225157Thank you for the reply. It was very helpful.
March 3, 2015 at 6:18 am #231041Opentuition notes combined with OT lectures are good enough to pass i think…
Also refer a Revision kit from approved learning partner like bpp or kaplan…P.S If anyone from kerala is here i can give you my f1 and f3 books………
March 6, 2015 at 5:53 am #231430Sir John
I’m starting ACCA
Is it enough if I only study the course notes without purchasing the text books.
