    Hello ,

I have just recently signed up for your website which is excellent. I would like to buy a book from BPP for LW.

I am based in the UK, I believe it means English syllabus for me .

If you could confirm that would be much appreciated

    Many thanks

Hi Sonia and welcome to OpenTuition!

You make it sound like it’s a requirement that you have to take the English variant. That’s not true – you could opt for the Global variant if you wanted

However, you’re based in UK and may I assume that it is your intention to remain in UK? If so, then you’re correct in saying that the English variant would be more appropriate for you.

It’s also widely recognised around the World so if you have ambitions to travel, choosing the English variant should not hinder your employment prospects in other countries . It may be that, should you wish to emigrate to, say, the USA and practice as an accountant there, you would be required to take a local law exam (as well as a local tax exam)

However, if you foresee your future as being UK based and you wish to practice as an accountant in the UK, then you are correct – the English variant is the one for you

You mention that you intend to purchase a ‘book from BPP’ BPP is certainly an excellent provider of study material for accountancy students. I suggest that you do not need to buy a study text for the Law paper! The material on this site (course notes, lectures, flash cards, tests and the forums) contain as much material as you should need to gain a comfortable pass in the law paper when combined with endless hours of practice with a BPP Revision Kit.

A Revision Kit is full of exam standard and exam style multiple choice questions

So save your money (if you had intended buying a Study Text) and brace yourself for interminable hours with a Revision Kit

And, of course, if you should come across anything in your studies that you fail to understand, post again on this forum and I shall get back to you, normally within 24 hours

Whilst writing, may I also assume that you have seen the yellow box on the right of this page?

I hope that all this helps 🙂

Have you tried the ACCA’s mock exams? Have you acquired a revision kit from one of the recognised tuition providers (BPP or Kaplan)?

If you can answer ‘Yes’ to either of those questions, you shouldn’t now be needing to ask your question on this thread!

    OK?
