    Hi!
Please don’t be frustrated, just love ACCA as much as you love your work and enjoy gaining the conceptual knowledge besides practical knowledge. Give enough time to your studies.
I joined CAT in ’09 and this Dec is hopefully going to be my last semester for affiliation. 4 P’s you must have to pass ACCA-
    Patience,
    Passion,
    Prayer and the most important
    PRACTICE!
All the best for your future ACCA journey!

i also had bad experiences, on f4, nightmare…

suggest you to think about it:
    1) do you gain real things from acca? i mean those can improve your job competence and awareness etc.
    2) do you think it’s possible to pass all exams in time?

if yes to both, no reason to give up.
otherwise, it might be better to find an alternatives.

it doesn’t mean you’re incompetent, perhaps just you and acca are not matching with each other.
think it positive, and broaden your sight out of acca, you’ll be in good mood.

ps: if you’re not an auditor, why not consider cma/cima etc… i’m surprised that i chose acca year ago while auditor is never an option for me, sigh.

    Dear Neha,

I am afraid you only have 3 more years left to complete the qualification. Going by the rate of clearing the exams by you, you will not even complete the foundation level exams at the end of 10 year period set by ACCA. I think there is something drastically you need to do, may be consulting a tutor who will guide you how to develop good exam technique, how to study etc.

Believe me, passing ACCA exams is not depending upon what you know and how much of practical knowledge you have, but how you apply it to the relevant questions and demonstrate it on your answer book let in a way that is reasonably acceptable to the examiner in the stipulated 3 hour. It is more of possessing good exam technique than your real life expertise on the relevant field.

I have more than 2 decades of rich and insightful experience in the field of accounting and finance and struggled to pass ACCA exams. On the way I have failed few exams. Initially it was because of my wrong perception that I knew the subject and that was enough to pass the exams. I started passing exams regularly after I shed this perception and developed exam techniques instead. Even after I failed exams, but that was totally attributable to my lack of time and poor exam preparation. My last exam P4 (second attempt) was in this session. The first attempt of this paper, arguably the toughest of all ACCA exams, was so easy as even before writing a dot on the answer sheet I decided that I passed this exam. This over confidence completely gripped me over resulted in forgetting to apply even the simplest basics. Result – 42 marks. I normally attempt at least 2 mock exams for every real exam. I did not do this for this paper and paid the price for it.

In my opinion the easiest thing is to get worried about what are we doing wrong instead of not trying to identify it and correct it. It may not be possible to identify own mistakes and short comings by ourselves as we quite often end up deciding that there is no such thing or adopt another wrong strategy.

Finally it is not possible to pass exams if we produce answers the way we understand. A pass is possible only if we are able to produce answers reasonably understandable to the markers. To know how close you are doing this is to conduct a few mock exams for each exam you are intending to sit and compare it with the answers of past exams.

    I wish you goo luck

Keep trying ! Clearly you are busy with work. Maybe because of that you are not getting enough time to study and maybe you are having family commitments as well.

Regardless of the result of the exam, start preparing for the next exam (dec 2014). That way you will have 6 months for preparation.
