Dear Tutor:
I am just confusing the date of the financial report issued date, such as, the director’s declaration signed on 28 July 2011, but the financial report mailed to shareholders on 4 August 2011. Can I said, the fincial repot issued date would be the report when mailed to shareholders on 4 August 2011?
So if we found the subsequent event after 28 July 2011, but before 4 August 2011, furtermore, the event actually occurred before 28 July 2011(the date auditor siagned the audit report), so should we request the management to recall the financial report for revision or just adjust the financial report directly without recall?
If the FS haven’t been mailed and a material adjusting event occurred, the directors should not mail them as the FS are ‘wrong’. If they had already been mailed, they are still wrong and corrections should be issued.
If the even occurred before the auditors signed their report, they should not give a clean audit report unless the FS are amended. If the accounts are not amended, then the audit report would be modified and this would alert all recipients of the FS that there was a problem.
