hello i downloaded the AA notes and have noticed that there are some points in the lecture that are not in the notes. there are also some notes that are not in the lecture. is this because the notes are updated and no longer need the concepts in the video?, or the notes have not been updated? E.g. chapter 11 the lecturer mentions sampling and non sampling, under reliance and over reliance, risk of incorrect rejection and acceptance. non of these are mentioned in the notes. in the lecture there is no mention of evaluation sample results which are in the notes. please let me know.

For such a wordy subject as AA, there is always more that could be said and more than could be written – but a line needs to be drawn somewhere, as otherwise the content becomes overwhelming. Our aim is not to prepare the few prizewinners (although I have had prizewinners among my students) – but to help many more achieve sound marks that will be provide a foundation for moving on to AAA.

The notes do, in fact, mention sampling and non-sampling risk (a search on “non-sampling” will take you to pages 57 & 58) – it is not unreasonable that the lecture should pick up on these topics again in the sampling chapter.

Candidates will never be required “to do” MUS in the exam, but I suggest that it is much easier to understand how it has the effect of selecting every item in a top stratum, if it is illustrated.

In a similar vein, the evaluation of the sample results goes some way to explaining how we get from test results to the auditor’s next action – e.g. moving to substantive procedures when tests of control are unsatisfactory (see overview page 49).

In short, to cover the syllabus of AA does not “silo” into neat topics in the same way as a computational subject – but between the lectures and the notes, we aim to cover all the most important points.
