Hello,
Just joined the site and it looks great! Finishing my studies with the Open University and considered doing a Masters, but I’m drawn to this hectic world! My wife is an accountant and I feel that I will have more job opportunities and a varied career if I give it a shot. Leaving a career in communications and am hoping to start FAB when my dissertation gets done (which I should be doing now!!).
Just wonder which route I should take, FIA – CAT – ACCA Qualified? Or do I just work through F1-F9 and then take stock? Any advice would be much appreciated,
Regards,
Mike
July 31, 2013 at 5:10 pm #134605It really depends on how much time you will have for studying and what your ambitions are.
Best is the full ACCA Qualification. If you decide to go for that then there is no need to do FIA or CAT – you can register and go straight into F1, F2, and F3. You do not say what your degree subject is, but you should not have too much problem with them if you are numerate.
However, although the first three exams are not too difficult (first year degree level), the later ones get harder (as you would expect) and the P level exams are master degree level. So it takes most people at least three years to qualify.
(Although you will receive a Diploma after completing F1, F2 and F3.)If this is too long for you (or too daunting) then maybe CAT would be better for you.
There is not really anything to be gained by just taking the other ACCA F level papers and then stopping. If this confuses you, or if you need more information, then post again 🙂

I think I will go for the ACCA qualification, it makes more sense to me, I’m not under any time constraints. Can CBE’s be sat at any time or do you need to book them like paper based exams?
