    Hi guys,

I have 3 exams left for P2 and 2 option papers. But I was really stressful and wonder if someone can give me some advice.

I failed P7 twice with 42 and 41. Failed once for P5 for 43. I prepared 6 weeks before P7 and P5. I work full time. So I spent 1 hour every evening Mon to Thurs. Few hours at weekend. I felt so tired during studying period.

For P5, I got one question which I could not write anything relevant. Although I saw similar question in past exam papers, I could remember anything.

For P7, the second time I tried to practice more. But the mark I got even lower than the first time. Not sure if I should change to P6. I hate P7 now. Although I got 73 for F8, I think P7 is hard. I cannot figure out what I am doing on that paper.

I give myself a break for March exam. I wanted to give up ACCA. But I feel like only 3 left. So I planned to do 2 exams in June and 1 in September to clear them out. Or 1 in June and 2 in Sep.

But I am not sure if I should go for some revision courses now. It is painful!

    Thanks a lot.

For P1 and P3, I only practice on past exam papers instead of watch any video or books. Somehow, it won’t work for P5 and P7.

Some observations based on what you’ve said:

    – 6 weeks study is not enough, with the amount of hours per week you are studying. If you upped that to 11-12 weeks per exam, you’d have a better chance.

    – You should be upping the amount you study in the couple of weeks before the exam.

    – Since you are struggling, I’d recommend you focus on one exam at a time instead of trying to do 2.

    – When you say you practice on past exam papers instead of watching videos or books, do you mean you didn’t actually study the theory at all and just went straight into practicing questions? I can see how that might have worked for P1 and P3 but it won’t work for other exams. You do need to have the underlying knowledge to answer questions as well.

    – You don’t necessarily need to go on any revision courses but you do need to change your approach.

Thanks a lot for your reply Chris.

For P1 and P3, I did not study anything. For P7 and P5, I read and practice on the study notes from Open University. I think P5 is slightly easier for me to understand. For P7, I feel a little bit hard. It is strange that I thought F8 is easy.

From your suggestion, I can see that I would be better to study 11 weeks before exam. I am trying to do P5 again. Will you suggest to go on practice on past papers and exam questions kit from Kaplan? I studied the study note and watched the videos from Open Tuition. If I am not sure anything, I will just need to go back for the study note again. I will try P5 in June then see how my approach works this time.

Will you suggest to switch to P6 from P7? I think calculations will be better for me. But I have studied P7 twice. Not sure if it is worth to switching.

    Much appreciated.
