Is it ok to put page number when you paraphrase an idea. I mean like e.g
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy( IMF,2014,p.14).

May 13, 2015 at 9:48 am #245669Hi Trephena,
I got different info from the same website and this is how I did it in-text.
(Muvitv.com, n.da) and (Muvitv.com, n.db). The point is, is it ok adding ‘a’ and ‘b’ in order to differentiate them?

May 11, 2015 at 10:55 am #245244Hi Trephena,
I really appreciate your help. Sorry for continuing bothering you with further question but kindly do not get tired as we value your help most. Below are my queries again for your help:
1. Like on the limitations of ratio analysis, I managed to get info from BPP text book and at the end of a numbered list that’s where I put (BPP,2012a). Is this Ok? This is what I did
IX. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.
X. yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
XI. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
XII. bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbb (BPP, 2012a).2. Secondly, for any info gotten from annual reports, I have made sure I put page numbers for reference to have a positive effect as per your advice. But putting page numbers has called for ‘ direct quotes’, and your advice is that too many direct quotes are considered ‘bad academic practice’. Am worried because especially I have used SWOT and mostly SW & some T are based on annual reports, and I feel they are many , but with any other references, I have paraphrased. Am I safe? or is there an ideal number of direct quotes considering our 7,500 word RR?. Kindly, help because am done with the RR and am just waiting for your response to make some final changes coz I don’t want to fail this time especially that it is my last chance.
3. Following your advice to Dorcas concerning Financial statement figures, I made sure that I just mention them without putting page numbers as it is fairly obvious where they came from. But I did that before your response to my query. For example this is what I did under PESTLE:
” Political stability caused investor confidence and many investors had invested in various key sectors, therefore, leading to continued economic growth in countryX which created a conducive economic environment that allowed Bank Y to perform positively, making profits after tax of K60, 884million in 2011, K92, 632million-restated in 2012 and K77, 065million in 2013 respectively”KINDLY HELP!!!!!!
ZILYENGEMay 9, 2015 at 4:43 pm #244975Hi
I really appreciate you for the response you gave me for my earlier post, but I still have the following queries for your help:
1. For Articles, is it a MUST to put page number(s) in the reference list regardless of whether it appears once in-text?
2. For any other documents,if you have just in-texted it once with a page number and do not put a page number in the reference list, can it cause failure?
3. In your response to Dorcas you have stated that ‘Page numbers are NOT necessary for the figures themselves from the financial statements as it is fairly obvious where they came’, but in my RAP I have put page numbers, can I be punished for that? Thanks always

April 5, 2015 at 3:19 pm #240200Hi sir, I failed my RAP for period 29, one of the reasons being poor referencing as they stated,”Overall there is a general lack of referencing to the annual reports of the two banks you look at. This needs to feature, as do the page numbers of these reports, to have a positive effect”.
For example what I did both in-text and in the reference list was,'(Chairman’s Review, 2012)’, then under reference list,’Chairman’s Review (2012). Finance Bank Zambia Ltd Annual Report. Available at: https://www.financebank.co.zm (Accessed: 5th August,2014)’.
Honestly speaking, is this not Harvard referencing?
Anyway, as per their advice if am to include page numbers, how should it be done both in-text and in the reference list?
In the same line with page numbers, if I get information from any other part apart from the chairman’s, MD or Directors’ report, how do I in-text it with page number and how do I write in in the reference list?- for example if I get it from the ‘bank’s overview’ for 2012 annual report.
For pdf docs, is it WRONG just to put the main web in the reference list? can it also be reason for my failure? If am to put the pdf link, how do I go about it?
Lastly, for a website e.g http://www.muvitv.com, and the info I got from the web was about ‘salary increment for civil servants’, how do I in-text it and how do I write it in the reference list?
I always appreciate your continued assistance.

September 16, 2014 at 8:32 am #195117Hi trephena
Stay blessed. I will definitely mention OpenTuition website as one of the sources where I got helpful advice for my RAP.
You really help! This help is not even worth to be for free!! Thanx a trillion times!!!
September 15, 2014 at 11:32 am #195010Hi Trephena,
Thank you very much!!!! You are really helpful!!!. So if data has been gotten from the ‘Chairperson’s Statement’,’ Managing Director’s report’ and ‘ Directors’ report’, all these should fall under different reference lists? as:
1. XYZ Chairperson’s statement (2013) –Chairperson’s statement, XYZ Annual report 2013.[Online] .Available at :www.XYZ.com/africa/zambia.(Accessed : 16/08/2014)
2. XYZ Directors’ Report (2013) – Directors Report, XYZ Annual report 2013.[Online]. Available at :www.XYZ.com/africa/zambia.(Accessed : 16/08/2014)
3. XYZ Managing Director’s report (2013) – Managing Director’s Report, XYZ Annual report 2013 .[Online].Available at :www.XYZ.com/africa/zambia.(Accessed : 16/08/2014)
After that, the same should follow for 2011 & 2012 financial years if for example Topic 8 is picked???
Any other data from the annual report but not specifically from the Directors’ report, Chairperson’s statement or MD’s report should just be cited as (XYZ,2013)?? And under the reference list be put as XYZ(2013), Annual report..[Online].Available at :www.XYZ.com/africa/zambia.(Accessed : 16/08/2014).????
Thank you in advance!!!!!
September 12, 2014 at 9:10 am #194722Information gotten from annual report e.g from the CEO statement of XYZ, should it be cited as (XYZ Plc,2013) or (CEO statement,2013)??? and in the reference list should I write
XYZ Plc(2013) Annual report.[ Online]. Available at: http://www.xyz.com/africa/zambia.(Accessed on: 11.09.2014) ????
September 12, 2014 at 8:55 am #194720If am using the SWOT analysis and I have observed one weakness ’employee turnover’ in the directors’ report which has been presented in a table showing numbers of employees reducing each month, and I want to present that in form of a graph in my report, now when doing in-text citation should I write (XYZ Plc,2013) or ( Directors’ report 2013 annual report)??
