can tell me how to pass P7? I am tired with P7 after failed so many times. My technique was simply question practice. I bought revision kit from BPP and I just did (nearly all) the questions in there in bullet point form. Took about 2 hours per day for about 6 weeks. Passed with 62.
I’d say it really helps to be taking P2 or to have passed it because having knowledge of the standards is very important.

Thanks, ginette, I was under such a time pressure, even forgot to write conclusion in question 1, that could be my 2 marks….I don’t know much about how they mark the exam but I wouldn’t beat yourself up over missing the conclusion. I think they keep some ‘professional’ marks for discretion and I don’t think they’d mark you down to a fail for missing a conclusion. Take the positive that you are, based on that result, 96% of the way to a pass and will surely get it next time!

Congrats! No i havent got either! Did you get your email at 0.00 exactly?I see that you passed, congratulations!
My email came through about 00:05. The text message only came through today at 8:00 though. Checking my emails on the off chance last night was a good idea, wouldn’t have slept much otherwise!

Still haven’t had my text but I got an email.
February 19, 2016 at 10:40 pm #301194Elitsa, I totally agree with you and I do not believe you are question spotting. I mean there are only 3 major types of question that can come up in question 1 and it’s only normal to favour one type over another.
The major problem with cashflow questions is that there have been so few of them in the past it makes it hard to study for them due to the lack of past paper questions to practice. For this reason I find cashflows very difficult and I really hope it doesn’t come up in March but I’m doing the best with what I have.
Also you were right about the past papers and how they appear on the ACCA website, strangely they only display a hybrid exam of the last two sittings and like you said you already knew this so asked a legitimate question.
November 30, 2014 at 10:11 pm #214913My fundamental problem with this paper is that I feel there is a huge risk of misinterpreting the questions asked which could cost me a pass. I have little problem with syllabus or the questions asked, but I do have a problem with them being hard to interpret. What annoys me is that this is not a fair way to assess students and does not reflect real life.
Let’s say a manager tells you he wants a report on topic X, but it’s not clear exactly how he/she wants report written, you would ask them to clarify and they would. Hence understanding the requirement of a question/task should not be an issue in the real world and so should not be an issue with this exam!
This is the only exam I’ve ever sat where I feel like even if I prepared perfectly for it I could still fail. I also get really annoyed reading examiner comments blaming the students for not reading the scenario. I’ve seen questions where I’ve read the scenario many times and it’s still not clear what’s expected. It’s been said that the reason for pass marks being low is the need to bring forward prior F5 knowledge which is not the main reason, it’s the style in which the exams are written.
November 30, 2014 at 7:05 pm #214842Wow, I’d write something like this myself but I wouldn’t be able to put it any better than that. Spot on, 100% agreed!
