For me Finanicial management took around 250 hrs from start to finish. I had spent 50 hrs on theory and lectures and 200 hrs on question practice (went through revision kit 2 times).

For those of you who passed and did self study, can you please share your tips? What do you think worked? Etc

    Much appreciated

I went through opentuition lectures twice and bpp exam kit twice, and practiced past papers as much as I could. In total I spent around 320 hrs on preparation.

So, practicing a lot is a key to pass.

In my opinion, opentuituon notes are very good, but definitely not enough to pass. Revision kit is a must have, plus practice on past papers.
For me it was: go through opentuituon lectures 2 times, 2 times through revision kit (bpp), re-perform all available past exams. So in total I spent around 320 hrs.

I would agree with nadjma and would add that having revisioin kit is also crucial.

The analogy for me is the same as for learning a foreign language: study text is like a dictionary for reference and a revision kit is like foreign text to practice understanding and translation.

    Re: starting from scratch:
In my opinion passing APM is all about practice. If you have already attempted the exam, I doubt that you need to start looking at theory from scratch. However I would recommend to go through all the questions in the revision kit several times – for me it was 4 times.

Re: approach to go through past papers:
    My experience was:

First I try to write an answer and of course I fail to do so. Then I look at answer and try to re-perform the question.

After some time (several days/weeks later) I try to answer the question again and second time it is usually bad but better than the first time. I again look at answer and try tor re-perform it, correct my answer.

Then after some more time I try the question again, and the third/forth time it is more or less passable.

For me it took ~500 hrs of practice/revisions to pass.

Starting APM as early as possible is a good idea given that the pass rates are not that high. However in my opinon it is better taking SBL first to adapt to complexities of P level paper. There are not that many things that need to be revised from PM after all.

For me there were several years between those exams and I did not revise PM.

P5 pass rate is around 30%. This means that people do pass this exam despite all the complexities and alleged exam unfairness. In total I went through the revision kit four times and this helped me to pass it with the second attempt. It took me ~500 hrs. So I believe that it all goes down to practice.
