quick question for you, part three of my RAP is 4660 wrds but my overall word count is below 7500 words. Would this be an issue as they said 4500 words for part three?April 20, 2017 at 4:16 pm #382869Hello everyone and Learning Luminarium
Bit of an odd one here. My mentor has gone MIA on me after two meetings. With just a few weeks left I am meant to be doing my presentation as my RAP is done. Any ideas on mentoring firms to approach ? or a mentor in mind? I really need to submit this May. Thank youApril 7, 2017 at 11:02 am #380527Hey guys,
@trephena @Ehsan just finishing up my report with 2016 analysis and overall conclusions. Just wanted to clarify that PART THREE the report, conclusion and recommendations together are meant to be 4500 words am I correct?Additionally, I was trying to get a fluid layout for my report and wondered what is the best layout for this? I dont want my report to be confusing and its points should flow easily into the others such as decline in revenue from decline in load factor and increased competition etc. Currently, the layout is PESTLE (external), SWOT then company specific ratios and strategies.
M.O.S.T analysis is used as a part of conclusion, an overall look at how the airline is meeting its objectives and mission statements.
Any suggestions or tips are welcome. Thank you!March 23, 2017 at 3:42 pm #379057As always thank you Trephena. Read the related post, now off to hunt down a segmental analysis and any route specific information available!
March 23, 2017 at 10:50 am #379040Hi there Trephena,
I am in the midst of writing my report and whilst I have finished my business models, I am having a bit of trouble writing the financial bit. I have been trying to 1. relate the financial data back to the models used and 2. focus on WHY they changed and not by how much.
Whilst reviewing the revenue section, I noticed that the airline’s passenger revenue declined whilst passenger carried increased. What possible factors would cause this?
I have been leaning in the direction of their increased competition in the North Atlantic market, hence reduced ticket prices as a competitive strategy. Any thoughts?
Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.
P.S Huge thank you for the tip of using the chairman’s report before the writing the business analysis. Found some great points in there!February 23, 2017 at 6:51 pm #373923Again sorry but I do have another question if you do not mind. On BA’s statements they are prepared as the consolidated statements. In the report there is a separate SOFP for BA alone but there is no single income statement just the consolidated.
For some of the financial ratios and analysis itself I would need the figures from the single income statement. Do you have any suggestions how to approach this?
Analyzing the group would present a skewed picture and also unfair comparison unless Im mistaken.February 23, 2017 at 6:46 pm #373921Thank you! That was my train of thought regarding the 2016 statement.
M.O.S.T – Mission Objectives Strategies Tactics and it looks at the internal environment and whether the company has achieved its set out goals and objectives and to what extent.
Topic 8 seems fairly popular and I do want my RAP to stand out and not be a just another repetitive report so I thought of including a more modern technique alongside my PEST/SWOT.
However I would rather end up with a well round and written report than one that just plugs in technique after technique.February 23, 2017 at 11:55 am #373821Dear Moderator,
Brilliant advice. So happy came across this forum. I am comparing BA and Virgin Atlantic for submission in May and my approach planned for analysis is a combination of ratios/KPIs, PEST and SWOT.
I am considering including a M.O.S.T analysis as well and was wondering whether this technique would be a good fit?
Additionally, since I am submitting in 2017 Im planning to use years 2014, 2015 and 2016. financial statements for 2016 for both companies have not been released yet but are timetabled for first week in March. Meanwhile I am working on the years I do have.
Would this be a good idea? or should I do 2013-2015 instead. I am a bit skeptical about the 90 day rule. Thank you so much for your time.February 21, 2017 at 1:29 pm #373485Hello all. I am preparing my submission for May and my topic is number 8; analysis of British Airways for years 2014-2016. I have about seven different ratios for the financial analysis. However as I was trying to calculate the gp and np margins, I noticed that there is only a consolidated income statement for the group not just british airways. There is however a separate balance sheet.
Should I calculate based on the group? If not where can I get the single income statement for BA?
Thank you everyone for your help.October 19, 2015 at 1:27 pm #277526Passed with a 71! So happy, put in alot of work for this paper. Thank you OT for helping explain the areas I was stuck. Self studied as well.
