Hello palmy,
Actually I was not getting any response from anyone in the F8 Forum so thats why I posted here in the general forums. I am sorry for my mistake and will not repeat again.
PAPER FOR December 2016:
I self studied F4 with Kaplan study text and exam kit (valid upto june 2016) and two days ago I bought a current BPP revision kit for F4 and F8. Today I attempted the MCQ,s of the first chapter of F4 and found some new things which were not their in Kaplan study text and exam kit. I made a right decision for buying current edition of F4 exam kit. I have no problem with F4 at all, as I can appear for F4 at anytime throughout the year because of its exam flexibility. As I mentioned earlier that I also bought F8 exam kit so appearing for F8 exam now in December and also started the first chapter of F8 today. I dropped F6 because of short amount of time to cover the syllabus and same case with F5. I found F8 syllabus to be least time consuming but dont know about its difficulty compared to other papers. I am using OT video lecture, notes and current edition BPP revision kit for F8.Good marks:
To me anything above 69 is a great mark.
What does it mean if a student prepared everything for the exam and practised as many questions as possible and managed to score very low marks in the exam? But your points are also valid. Time management is very crucial for ACCA exams and I faced some time pressure in my FIA CBE exams. I am not sure what will happen in my case when I will appear for the exam in December session. I need to prepare myself from now.
I believe that I still have time to prepared for F8.
September 25, 2016 at 3:00 pm #341634Hello,
Why do you want to go UK for a job?
I think your degree would be sufficient to waive you from IELTS. Its better to check directly with the embassy.September 25, 2016 at 2:58 pm #341632Thanks for your opinion.
I am studying F6 for Decemeber 2016 with the help of OT video lectures and notes.
September 21, 2016 at 9:19 pm #341275I self studied for F4 with the help of Kaplan study text and revision kit. I used to study daily for F4 and completed the whole study text with solved revision kit, then I was revising over and over again. Now I did not study anything for last 10 days because of lack of motivation.
If there is anything that stop me to start studying again is lack of motivation and mostly procrastination. I need to overcome before its too late. I believe this is the only reason why I am left with this amount of time to prepare for F6 and F4 as well. I need to commit myself to a very tight schedule in which I have to spend 2-3 hours daily for studies.
I am not sure about other papers at all. Because F6 syllabus is very lengthy so I thought maybe other paper would be easily covered in this amount of time for Decemeber session. But now I think its better to continue with F6 and sit for the exam, then I will start the next paper from scratch until I clear the exam and never leave anything in the middle.
The main problem in my case is to stick with the schedule. I am also working but can easily manage to spare time for studies but motivation and procrastination stops me.
Thank you
September 21, 2016 at 3:21 pm #341230I need an advice from both of you especially from palmy. I want to start preparation for F6 but confused from where to begin. I am ready to use OT materials for F6 and will also buy up-to-date revision kit in few days. I am worried because of shortage of time to prepared for F6 because there is lot of things to cover in F6. Even I am ready to study for any other Fundamental level paper instead of F6.
Thanks
September 20, 2016 at 9:54 pm #341066@palmy: Thanks for your opinion.
If I can solve the revision kit successfully with the help of OT lectures and notes, then I am all set for the exam and do not need study text at all.
September 20, 2016 at 3:06 pm #341036Hi,
Even I am planning to sit for F6 instead of F5 in December 2016. I already took some tuition classes for F6 back in March 2016 for June 2016 exam session but could not sit for the exam and now the Finance Act is also changed but I think the method for calculating tax is still same only the difference in values. This would be first time I am using OT lectures and notes along with latest revision kit for F6.
Thanks palmy for your response about F6 and sharing your exam success with the help of OT.
Hope OT works for me as well and prepared to score very good marks in the exam.
Could anyone help in deciding which revision kit would be best for practicing F6 questions?
September 19, 2016 at 2:04 pm #340926Yes I cannot cover the whole syllabus by only using a Revision Kit and even I was not asking for this. I did not add ” study text before revision kit” by mistake. My main enquiry was about the time period to prepared for the F5 exam and you answered about it as well. You already told me about your materials that they are updated every six months but still I have doubt in myself about your materials that they are not enough to pass the exam with good marks but then I think about the latest revision kit which would help me to prepared for the exam fully and confidently.
Thank you.
September 18, 2016 at 9:18 pm #340863Yes. still have to start revising for my next paper and really finding it very hard to get back on track. I am also working so sometimes become very lazy to even open my bag and start reading the book. But I have to appear for an exam in December session.
September 12, 2016 at 11:53 pm #340285@John Moffat:Respected Sir,
Thanks for your reply regarding my enquiry about OT history and their ACCA materials. I really appreciate that you are offering ACCA notes and lectures with tutor support at free of charge to every student around the world.
Actually I was not aware about your study notes and video lectures. As you personally replied to my enquiry so I don.t think that I need to ask anyone now about OT for ACCA.
As you stated that revision kit is very important to practice as many questions as possible before appearing for the exam. If I use your video lectures and notes for my next ACCA exam with latest approved revision kit, so do I really need ACCA approved study text?. As you mentioned earlier that, ” Our lectures cover more than enough to be able to pass the exams well.”
Yes, everyone is different. A method which works for somebody maybe does not work for others. I have never experienced self study before started F4 on my own with the help Kaplan book, revision kit and your lecture notes. It was not easy for me to study at my own and still feel that there is lot more to improve before appear for the exam.
September 12, 2016 at 11:33 pm #340283@palmy: thanks for sharing your experience with me about OT.
Agreed with your statement that everyone is different and depends on their personal and professional background.I will start using OT lectures and notes for my next exam with latest ACCA approved revision kit. It,s not easy to study at own pace for ACCA papers but its not impossible.
I am still at the beginning of my ACCA journey and will appear soon for my first exam which is F4 ENG CBE. I never used OT solely for my FIA(Foundations In Accountancy) papers because of lack of awareness about OT.
But now everything seems clear about OT that I can use their notes and lectures for my ACCA exams with revision kit, which is very important for revision. Even I found many relevant information in revision kit and added them to the notes.
September 12, 2016 at 11:23 pm #340282I used Kaplan study text and kit… currently revising and practising questions for F4 and will soon appear for the exam..
Practice is really very important.
September 8, 2016 at 1:33 pm #339048Absolutely agreed with everyone statement that a revision kit is needed to practice as many questions as possible.
But I found OT very sooner in my life.
Now my mind is diverting instead of buying other ACCA package or study text, I should give a try to OT for my next ACCA paper and see how it goes for me.
Today my awareness has increased about OT.
Thanks all of you for sharing your experience about OT.
September 8, 2016 at 1:17 pm #339043Nope… still confused.
September 8, 2016 at 1:06 pm #339035@palmy: I am surprised and shocked with your statement that you relied solely on OT lectures and notes, passed all your exams at first attempt without using any ACCA approved study text. So do you mean that OT has everything which is required to prepare fully for the exam. For some papers I used both Kaplan and BPP kits because they are just for extra practice but the understanding comes from study text and lectures either online or face to face.
Could anyone please tell me why the OT don,t charge the fees for their notes, lectures and even for their tutor support?
Thanks for sharing such an important information with me about OT.
September 8, 2016 at 12:57 pm #339032@opentuition_team: I use OT lectures and notes when I don,t understand from the study text in order to understand easily. I feel that OT lectures are not up to date and relying solely on this will not be enough to prepare for the exam, that,s why I don,t rely myself fully on OT.
September 8, 2016 at 12:54 pm #339030@Kirsty: Yes, you are absolutely right. Everyone studies differently, the sources which worked for you to prepared for the exams maybe do not work for me at all. I have used Kaplan for all my FIA exams and now even for F4 as well. I feel that OT syllabus or lectures are not up to date thats why I don,t use OT to study for ACCA exams except their notes along with ACCA approved study text and revision kit. Good luck for your last exam. My first priority is Kaplan and then LSBF. I don,t want to join any institute in my country because its way too expensive here.
Thanks!September 8, 2016 at 12:43 pm #339024So do you think relying solely on OT notes and lectures are enough to prepare fully for the exam?
Thanks.
So it means I can appear for F papers in any order.September 8, 2016 at 12:41 pm #339023Congratulations Toyeeb for your exam success.
Which study materials did you use and how you prepared for the exam?September 7, 2016 at 1:14 pm #338584@suf23:
Did you passed F5 at first attempt?Did you find any similarities between F7 and F8?
September 7, 2016 at 1:10 pm #338583Hi,
You are working full time and almost done with ACCA, only left with two papers. I am still at the beginning of my ACCA journey . I have self studied for F4 with Kaplan book plus kit and opentuition notes without any tutor support. F4 is just full of theory but still there are so many things to remember and understand but I think self studying required lot of struggle, first I need to stick with the schedule and find ways to learn the material properly.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Kaplan Distance learning so far. I was not aware of their assignments method. Students who start their tuition in September for December exams means they have around 3 months to prepare for the exam so they need to study at fast pace. Now you made me confused about their DL courses, maybe I will start studying from opentuition or will buy LSBF ACCA tuition package. I will appear for F4 ENG CBE before 15th September, 2016 and then start tuition for next paper either F5 or F6.
Have you ever considered to study online with LSBF?
In how many years you have completed ACCA papers from F4 to P3?September 6, 2016 at 8:52 pm #338426Hi,
Currently I am not using open tuition for my any ACCA paper, just downloaded F4 ENG lecture notes but mainly using Kaplan study text and exam kit for exam preparation. I want to study at my own pace with tutor support and don,t mind buying any of the Kaplan Distance Learning courses, Becker,s gold package which is same as Kaplan except tutor videos, buying tuition package from LSBF etc. I like Kaplan because they are platinum status approved by ACCA so their quality is of high standard.
Does their package really effective for exam preparation and why you think that open tuition is better than Kaplan?
I am considering their Standard plus package.
September 4, 2016 at 1:01 pm #337495Hello,
chat with ACCA directly, they can assist you better than anyone else.
September 4, 2016 at 12:59 pm #337494@chris165: Thanks for sharing your experience with me.
Actually I already took some classes for F6 UK in March 2016 for June exams but the Finance Act is change now and my teacher told me that F6 is the largest syllabus but easy to pass. As you said, its just a bunch of rules. But I feel that F6 required lot of practice and very time consuming. I am not sure whether to go for F6 or another paper.
I am not good at expressing myself at the moment because need to build strength for these written papers. So I have to choose either F5 or F6.
My fellows told me that don,t study F8 before F7 because they both are linked with each other. Even my teacher told me the same thing few days ago about F7 and F8.
