At this stage maybe consider 1 exam at a time. It is a marathon not a sprint.

I realised during the exam that Open Tuition lectures are very concise and relevant. A very good resource for the revision stage. Thank you Chris for making me laugh during my revision. God Bless!

The question about why it is not a business combination/ …Investment property strangely enough seems very similar but with a different conclusion to practice question Blackcutt a). Determining whether Investment property also needs owner occupation consideration, say where ancillary services such as security and maintenance are significant as is the case with hotels. In such a case it would fall under IAS16 PPE. I think it was important to discuss the issue of Input, processes and output. Output only has to be likely and a propensity for processes to be applied to the inputs to produce outputs. Outsourced employees also provide the propensity for processes, hence not having employees is irrelevant in determining whether there is a business combination, Just as actual output is not essential but merely the potential to produce it. I am glad that there was less of consolidation as I spent most of my time with specialised accounting. All the best to those who wrote exams last week. The examiner always has tricks up their sleeve. You need to read in between the lines. Nothing is obvious.

It was advice to a company on 2 alternative Islamic finance sources besides the usual Equity & Long term Debt.

I explained Ijara (….Lease) & Musharaka (….Venture Capital/Partnership). I hope I was right. If you read the ‘Technical Article’ this should have been relatively easy.

In section B I spent some time on the hedging of an expected foreign receipt and but finally got the answer. If my memory serves me well the question required one to use the average/mid exchange rates to convert. If not the next question. I found that very interesting. I completed the paper with 4 minutes to spare

Part A was not too bad. Part B was tricky. Part C Q31 just before Islamic banking was a bit tricky. Though was glad it was only worth 3 & 1 mark. Q32 was ok. I read all material available and watched Mr. Moffat’s fantastic lectures, but am impressed by the standard of ACCA questions.

Passed F6 UK 64% from Zimbabwe! The OT lectures are amazing! Thank you Open Tuition. God Bless! F9 in December then Ps!

My main challenges during the exam were:
    – The 10 Marker in part C NIC question
    – The narrative questions at the beginning of the paper (deadlines)
    – I overlooked the 7/12 months apportionment in the last question, 15 marker (though it was ok)
    – Time pressure

This is one exam where 50% would be a Blessing! I was well prepared but as usual the time pressure did not help.

    Q32 tax comp CUD = P or L transfer

Was there Current tax or it was 26% of PBT calculation on SPLOCI?

I saw over, CR which would be treated negatively in CUD calc

    Opening deferred tax 0
closing deferred excess times 26% … Movement transferred to CUD calc
