@SheilaaC . I got 43% in my first attempt but passed 74% in my second attempt. I did not manage time effectively in my first exam. For my second attempt I did a lot more question practice and used the cbe practice platform for my workings and answers. It helps to do the formulas quickly in excel and know where to put the brackets etc. I didn’t understand foreign currency/interest rate hedging properly by just reading the BPP book. The open tuition lectures in this area really helped me. I couldn’t get my head round it before that. Also, I used to read through sample answers after doing questions and highlight what I thought were key points. I used to do questions in categories to begin with. Eg. Week one; do all restructuring questions i could, Second week; foreign currency hedging etc. I guess everyone is different though and different techniques might work better for some people. Most important for me was trying to persevere, because I suffer from anxiety and sometimes it seemed the acca exams were getting the better of me. Anyone who sometimes struggles, believe in your ability and view the exams as a learning experience rather than a big obstacle that you have to overcome. I found on the days I was more chilled out and my mind clearer, it was far easier for me to study. Sometimes those days were fewer than I liked but I got there in the end and everyone who didn’t pass this time will get there too. Also, another useful thing i think helped in the exam was copying and pasting requirements into word processor rather than clicking back to the question page all the time. I then deleted the requirements when I answered the question. I actually didn’t think of that until watching a video on the study resource page a week before exam!

Was there actually a limiting factor in question 5? I converted the prices into kilograms and couldnt find one when I added all the kilograms up. Then I panicked and pretended I got one by messing with my calculations and then that lead to a big mess because the contribution per kg was the same for two of two products.

I was also really disappointed. I did a lot of study and found the questions difficult. I did question 5 as my first question and it totally put me off. Not the confidence booster I needed because my last exam was only f3 and now I dont know if I am able for acca. My only hope is that if the exam is difficult than usual they might mark it easier.
