I had replied to a similar question to one of the posts in the forums.
If you are in the UK, then I recommend studying from an accredited college which offers AAT courses. There are lots of options available at least here in the UK. There’s Premier Training, Kaplan Learning, Accountancy Learning and Home Learning College to name a few…Its best to study from one of these as the provide proper guidance and practical solutions to difficulties that you might face while learning.
May 24, 2012 at 6:31 am #97583Hi,
I am new in ACCA. I want to Attend F2 CBE in next week.
I am trying to complete Kaplan book and opentution course note for my preparation.
So have you any suggestion for me?I am yet to download the opentuition course note so not too sure about its authenticity. But there are many users in the forums who have mentioned that they have benefited from the course. So take your pick.
Personally I think, Kaplan is best suited for all ACCA courses. Look upon Google and books published by Kaplan have got the best reviews.
May 24, 2012 at 6:27 am #97894I agree with whitedog. The last syllabus revision was done in Dec 2011. So whatever questions you will need to answer will be from this coursework (well, I hope so). Good luck with your exams!

Tariqath, the simplest solution to studying well is to keep a calm mind. If you want to remember what you have studied then try this:
– Close you eyes and count from one to ten
– Then relax and focus on what you wish to study for that hour or day
– Think about that topic as the most easiest to crack and think about it as a topic which you are not scared of
– Get some positive thoughts in your mind
– Open you eyes and write out those small positive thoughtsThen start practising and reading from your books (in your case the F1 book). Remember, always take a 5 minute break after every half hour. It helps your brain to relax and concentrate evenly.
Hope this helps!
May 24, 2012 at 6:12 am #97459The folks from BPP Learning Media have come out with a CD containing accounting study materials. To make it sound cooler, they call it the “iPass”! I guess, they have taken the cue from Apple Inc 😉
Whats next? iAccountant!
May 24, 2012 at 6:06 am #97403The real CBE questions are definitely more difficult. Then again, you must be a genius to score 90% without “sufficiently studying”! Probably you must have understood the concept easily, which is really good. For some people (like me) it takes ages to understand even the basics! But mind it, I understand the tougher concepts very easily!
May 24, 2012 at 6:03 am #95810The latest edition would be better. But you would probably should have bought it at least three weeks before your exams. Right now, I would suggest go ahead with what you have. However, if you can buy the latest edition easily (if it is available at your book-store), then just go through the “updated section” of the book once before you hit the exams. In future, avoid old editions as the content in these books are updated almost every year.
May 24, 2012 at 5:58 am #97352There are three books which I can think of:
1) F1 Accountant in Business – Kaplan Publishing (Oct 2011)
2) ACCA F1 Student Notes – Financial Management New Syllabus – Get Through Guides (Oct 2007 Edition) and
3) AACA F1 Accountant in Business – iPass – BPP Learning Media (2009 Edition).Compare these, but I think, Kaplan is the most comprehensive and constantly updated.
