sahaca, gobsmacked that pro level candidates still need to be spoon fed to this extent
June 5, 2017 at 10:50 am #390479As mentioned in my other thread, you should read all the technical articles. Especially the particular article listing out the key models frequently examined. I find that the frequently examined syllabus area are basically covered by the technical articles topics, which are a great guidance and quick way to cover the key areas of the syllabus.

Hey buddy I meant no disrespect.I just feel your method of study was risky and your marginal pass was evidence of its risky nature.
Sure it work for you, and well done on that, but then another person trying this same approach could see it backfire on them in my opinion.
I particularly disagree with the part where you suggest you can BS your way through the question. That is not the case, examiners go out to try and make it hard for people who try to BS. Okay for you it might be all common sense and you feel you have enough to talk about the topic after just briefly reading up on it. But might not be the case for others and they will fail if they try BS. These are professional papers if we could pass them on pure waffle it would make a mockery of the ACCA and they wouldn’t have the reputation they have now.
May there’s a bit of misunderstanding on the ‘BS way thru’ part. I was referring to practicing past papers in the early stage of revision, where if one ain’t familiar with the models or knowledge, I suggest they stick with the writing the answer using common sense or individual knowledge of the business world, under time limit conditions.
After proper revising and knowledge obtained, then one should get a sense of which models to apply, and can tackle the scenarios in a more precise manner.
But seriously, I would suggest people going through the technical articles and their related syllabus scope first, because its the fastest way of covering the frequently examined syllabus area, instead of going through the entire syllabus. The latest technical articles would also hint to students the newest examinable topics that I find highly likely examined in the future 2-3 diets.
May 16, 2017 at 8:46 am #386392I can be professional for people or circumstance that calls for it, for people that disrespects each other, I dont see the need to
and hey mind u, being aggressive and assertive is a trait in the biz world

what a joke..hey, why dont you tell us how you pass the exam? or have you even passed it yet?
instead of dissing others, this is a place to share your experience
I am genuinely wanting to share my method with others
If you guys did go through all past papers, you will notice vast majority of examinable topics is covered by them articels

It seems it was his policy, but he probably just got lucky (as the 2% skin of the tooth pass suggests). On another day the correcter could have easily failed him.
well, I am a slow writer and I left out 15 marks undone, but still got 51%. A pass is a pass, as long as I was able to convince the marker to pass me, its mission achieved

When you started your studies for the P3 exam? Have you taken any outside help, self study or Interactive classes for passing this exam. Pleas guide to those who are new in it….Thank you.
I did have lecture notes. But I find going through all lectures notes wasting too much of my time and there are some parts of the syllabus not worth wasting my time on. After couple of fails, I apply my study time by first going through all the technicle articles then practise past papers for after going through each topic. If I need further insight of any topic then I go back to lectures notes.
Lastly, always time yourself for each past paper practise, as this exam is 50% application of knowledge and analysis, 50% time management, so practice of doing questions sunder time pressure is essential.

hello,Are you saying that just reading through the articles on the websites WITHOUT studying the texts/notes plus exam questions practice is sufficient to passing this paper?
I have went through notes and attended lectures, which gave me overview of the key models and overall syllabus. But he syllabus is pretty lengthy and the frequently examinable models and topics are pretty much highlighted in the articles, which is more efficient for studying, instead of going through the whole lecture notes and articles. I do go back to lectures notes if I don’t understand certain models or need further insight on specific topics.
But I find the key to passing is application of models and knowledge, which is practising the pass papers. So pls apply most of your study time in practising past papers.

@Soho for the March 2016 paper P4 sitting I was even the best Student in my country and No.23 in the whole world and I got a prize.its was my third proper attempt in two years (my daughter was 2 years old) and it got the magical 51%…
its agonising to sacrifice time with the new born toddler for the study, but somehow i got here now
P3 sucks if Eng is not your mother tongue or you are not natural in Eng essay writing, I am confident about my knowledge but the time pressure is just immense.
its really a challenge of driving through as many as points by writing the shortest sentences possible
January 18, 2017 at 8:21 am #368091thank you. i am affiliated now. P3 was the final chapter and had to mud wrestle with it for the past two years
seriously, its just really a test of how fast you can read and write in Eng, bit of a disadvantage really for non-native speakers… have to battle your way through it smartly
good luck with your endeavours

Passed at first attempt and now an affiliate. Did self study, full time employee, married and a mother of 4 boys, never failed a single paper. Sat for my first exam in June 2014 and finished ACCA in exactly 2 years and half. Determination is key. Revise alot of exam papers and learn the exam technique.TIME MANAGEMENT IS KEY AS WELL. Glory be to God.To all those that are still studying I can only say all the best
impressive, do you have a full time nanny or something?
