Guys,
For everyone feeling very demoralised by a recent fail I know this isn’t going to fix how you feel but it might give you a sense of how hard the exams are not that we need any reminding! The pass rate for APM for Sep 18 was 33%, so basically 1 in 3 has passed this exam!! Let that sink in.
So you certainly won’t be alone in missing out on these exams. I know it’s not much but it might give some comfort in knowing you aren’t the only person in this position. Most will encounter a setback along the way (myself included) but just keep going. As hard as it might feel today, trust me, in another few days time you’ll feel ready to put this most recent sitting firmly in your rear view mirror (some may have already!) and you’ll be re-energizing and turning your focus to the December sitting and getting it this time. Keep the faith, keep the belief, and most of all stay positive about your ability and give yourself credit and rewards for rising to the fight once again. Be mindful of yourself these days ahead.
I’m back writing on this post as I feel a sense of sorrow for those that are having to go back at it again as I know the feeling all too well so just wanted to offer my support and encouragement.
October 17, 2018 at 3:30 pm #478945@Z Thanks for your reply. Congratulations on completing your journey. It’s a tough old slog isn’t it. Well done for getting there and persevering despite the setbacks, it takes courage and determination to get back up and go again.
I’m not too sure how quickly the ACCA process the membership application but I guess it’s good to be organised on that front and get the PER done as soon as possible.

Mate same. used to get 47, 48 but this time thankfully got 53. I managed to attempt 75 marks properly; the last 25 mark question I wasn’t able to attempt 11 mark and the rest on that question was just me rambling on with minutes to spare.Just filling my PER because I’ve done more than 36 months of relevant work experience (in big four as well) but the journey was exhausting and there were times I thought I couldn’t go on. Should be done by PER this week and submit for membership. Hopefully should be done in a month right? Heard ACCA don’t take long in processing your membership application.
Extremely wise words from you and appreciate the feedback. Good luck to everyone keep soldiering on you will get your reward.
October 15, 2018 at 12:34 pm #478421Passed with 50% on my first attempt. This was my last ACCA paper so now just to finalise the PER and submit for membership!
Over the moon with the pass, this paper was so difficult and long and I remember coming out of the exam centre deflated knowing I’d struggled to attempt a number of the questions. For all those that have completed their journey well done, and for all those still slogging it out, keep going and keep pushing. It took me a long time to come back to studying my Accountancy exams as I’d had failures with another governing body and it knocked the fight out of me. As it happens I came back to studying with a much busier lifestyle with 2 toddlers to look after and I spent endless nights studying wondering would I ever complete the journey. I had setbacks along the way but I got there and I believe if you are one of my fellow students reading this, provided you want it enough and are willing to give it your everything you too will get there. And trust me, when you do the feeling of accomplishment will feel all the more stronger knowing the hardship and the sacrifices you’ve had to make to achieve this goal. Keep going, keep pushing and remember what defines us is how we rise after a fall. Best of luck to all still on the journey and thank you so much to Open Tuition for helping me realise this dream I had. Peace.
July 16, 2018 at 12:15 pm #463132Passed with 58 on my second attempt. Just one more left to go now…
Congrats to all that have passed and massive congrats and respect to all who have completed their journeys of all ACCA exams. For all those that failed on this occasion, a lot of us have been there and have felt the pain you are feeling today. Don’t lose heart, I promise you in the coming days the ache and pain will subside and your focus for the next battle in September/December or whenever you next decide to sit them will return. Have faith in yourself, your ability and your desire to carry you through.
What defines us is how well we rise after a fall…..
Best of luck.June 4, 2018 at 8:09 pm #456170Curious as to whether the breakdown of the detailed marking structure for Q1 was listed on the UK variant of the paper or whether this is just speculation?
Nowhere on the Irish variant of the paper was the detailed marking structure included for Q1.June 4, 2018 at 8:04 pm #456169The exam time pressure on this paper is incredibly difficult to manage. This is my second sitting and yet again I felt I spent too long on Q1. I sat the Irish variant and am interested to see that candidates that sat the UK variant seem to have a breakdown of the marking structure for Q1. This wasn’t apparent on the Irish variant and if this was the case then it is hugely unfair that the ACCA would include the detailed marking structure on one variant of the paper over another. It leaves too much scope for the candidate to spend too much time on specific areas of question 1 when there are more marks awarded for other requirements. I felt a lot of the other questions and their sub parts are too long. It seems to me that each question was loaded with additional requirements. In reading a question of two sentences you’d be asked to perform 3 matters in some cases I.e. identify, comment and explain in addition to detailing Audit procerdures or evidence you might find. The question requirements should be shorter and more precise. It’s difficult enough to balance time pressures on 4 questions without multiple layers to the requirements. All in all I felt it was a very difficulty paper and I’ve no doubt I’ll be back again in September for another attempt. Feeling deflated and dejected by P7.
April 16, 2018 at 9:39 am #447266Failed on first attempt with 47%. Very painful, I was really hoping to get this one out of the way so I could focus on the last one in June.
Now I’ll have to re-sit this one and put sitting P5 back until September. I just don’t feel I’d have the time to put in the required study to sit P7 and P5 in June with working and having two toddlers taking up a lot of time and energy. These exams are tough and it’d be hard enough doing them without having outside distractions.
For all that passed well done and congratulations. For all that failed like me, hard luck and as difficult as it seems right now and as hard as it is hearing people say it, keep the head up, we’ll get through this and the thoughts of the joy, pride and satisfaction at the end of this journey is the motivation to keep on going.May 8, 2017 at 3:03 pm #385366@dammy1 said:
Hi, I am planning to take the P3 exam for the first time in June by self-study. Does anyone have any revision guide and exam tips for P3 please?Hi damm1, I found this to be a really good study guide and the one I used for my studies for P3.
https://opentuition.com/acca/p3/p3-study-guide/
I also watched each P3 lecture on the opentuition site and then used the summarised notes at the link below that supported the lectures. I made my own condensed written notes (mainly regurgitating the various models) and reviewed these before sitting the exam. I also tried to read most of the technical articles on the ACCA website under the exam resources section and worked my way through previous P3 papers and solutions. I didn’t put myself under any exam conditions to sit a paper and see how I did. I just tried to read questions and answers along with examiners reports and learn as much information as I could and trusted that when I got into the exam I’d be able to apply the relevant knowledge to the particular scenario in the question. Tried to keep answers in bullet point format so I knew which points I’d made already rather that getting lost in a paragraph of information.
Best of luck in June.

May 4, 2017 at 11:30 am #384830Wow, just got a call from ACCA Ireland to say I placed 1st in the country in P3 in the March sitting with 76% and 16th worldwide.
