Hi
I would like to do F9 and feel from some views thats its fairly hard and very detailed. I am hoping to do it this dec, and was maybe considering doing another one!!If so does anyone have any suggestions which one? and do you think it is possible for the time of only two months?
Thanks
Hi jemma,
Answer to ur quest
It’s very detailed indeed but once u study it u will find it easy to pass
i would suggest u do a paper with no calculation questions whatsoever but then again its what u can handle if u did CAT i think any paper in level 2 would be okay.
To do 2 exams in 2 months i would not say its impossible but with dedication i think u will do a great job.
GOOD LUCKJune 11, 2013 at 9:19 pm #131731 @seagoat said:
Inflating price up is dragging NPV up (more positive) but you probably meant costs – maybe something with not accurate inflating them indeed. Or maybe the price was inflated too much.Sabrina:
I included incremental (500) in year 0 and small incremental values in coming years. So Mr Govida For your 4.9 NPV could look as something with working capital.
‘
Scrap value is also dragging NPV up so its not the case it is also pushing NPV up. capital allowance the same its positive cash flow.Paying tax one year in arrears is good for NPV being more positive because the negative present value are less than discounted on the year of sales.
To be short Mr Govinda: It is either something with small mistake with inflating or not including Working Capital Investment.
I was just trying for him to see where he could have gone wrong it could be one mistake or more than one by the way wat did u get for ur NPV

I got an insane npv for q1. 4.9m on a 5.5m investment or something like that. Couldnt see where i went wrong though. The mm hedge I made at around 1900 better. Again, not sure on this.
On wacc I got another ridiculous figure of 8% but I think I messed up bank debt.
Did u work back the investment appraisal question to see where u went wrong, what discount factor did u used, did u inflated all prices, did u take the incremental working cap in period 1-3 and recover it back in yr 4 also did u add the scrap value into taxable cash flow as well as deduct it from the capital allowance in the balancing fig. Most important did u calculated the tax one yr in arrears. Or it could be a transposition error which u shouldn’t worry abt if ur workings are there… Hope this help

lol you just lose one mark and yea even if your NPV is wrong and you comment according to your NPV that it is positive accpet the project you then also get 1 mark for commenting if u know that your NPV is wrong just assume it. I asked it from my teacher who is a F9 marker 😀 So cheersAlso I hope she go easy on us lol, hey I was quite surprise to see the exact same quest for the receivable management policy lol good thing I work through all those papar well not all most lol

Yeah I wasn’t too worried about it. I even left a note for Marker to say it should be 9000 every year. It would have looked like a horrible mess if I tried to correct it all for one mark. NPV was around 40 million I think due to that error. My friend it’s not one mark u lose more since u r given one mark for correct NPV one for correct selling price and another for inflating it

I remember the lecturer mentioning in class that if you get the units wrong, but compute the rest correctly, basing on the figures you have got, you only loose like a max’m of 2mks. Given in this question the units were copy and paste, you would probably loose just one mark.let’s face it, there are 3mks for tax savings through CA alone. Then initial outlay and scrap value in their right periods (0 and 4); adjusting for inflation using the right rates; A mark for using the right discount factor; another for copying the right figures from PV tables. and one mark for making a decision basing on your figures.
And all these are not really affected by the units. We shouldn’t be worried even if we got the units fugures wrong.
Wat was ur NPV

yea there was an inflation rate for working capital all recovered in year 4 . The line equal zero when u add all
And tax savings start in year 2 , same as tax, Was told one year in arrears in questionWat was ur NPV

for me WACC was 12.2% looks a decent figure to me,
Q1 i think u r wrong the project was with positive NPVHe said that his NPV was 4.9m not the PV cash flow Mr.Decent

I did the same with the demand, increasing by 9000 every year. Once I got to the (ridiculously high) NPV, I realised that I had made an error. I didn’t want to waste time correcting it, so I put a footnote saying that the demand should have been 9000 for every year.At most we should be penalised 1 mark I would say. As I am sure I did everything else 100% correct.
Any thoughts on this people?
I clearly read that part of question where they say sales volume is 9000 per yr, I didn’t see anything about increasing every year if I did I would have done the same like u guys, my NPV was 4.5m what was urs

NPV was 4 million+ and the Forward maket was 296000 and money market 294000 and the WACC was 12.2% I think I am correct 😀Did u add the scarp value as well as the working capital .

A machine has limited capacity. Isn’t it rather odd for a machine to double productivity the older it gets? Can’t agree more with u here, the PV I got is 10m initial investment 5.5m which gives an NPV of 4.5m.
June 8, 2013 at 3:04 am #130609I got 4510 for NPv and 292 for the forward contract WACc 8 % I know I am wrong

Hi Ladies and Gentle men, I have been following comments on this year’s F9 exam papers. I agree with most of the suggestions that have been uploaded. To be fair, the paper it self was not very difficult from my personal point of view. I though I made enough preparation for the paper. But when the exam was finished I came out from the exam hall gutted. Time was so short in relation to the questions asked. I could not put the things I know because of time. Especially Q2 ( the 15 marks) was a kind of open question. The have no idea what the examiner has wanted. If it was not for time, I could have kept on writing …,Have to agree with you adhina1acca The paper was not so difficult but very time consuming.

you have to use fisher principle to inflate the 10%Derrick the question gives us a nominal rate which already taken the inflated rate into account. chech ur notes back

December 9, 2010 at 9:26 pm #73885Guys this paper looks easy but there was some tricky questions. I know the examiners is going to mark very hard.
The neg NPV scared me and my friends too so we can waste more time on adding back our answers.
the only answer i am certain abt is the stupid 5000 units using the EOQ
I didn’t prepared for this i had to really think back.
I pray and hope for a pass desperately.December 8, 2010 at 11:23 pm #73176@joevassallo said:
Q8 there seems to be a mixed feeling of what it exactly related to…. consideration, promissory estoppel, acceptance by conduct, intetion to create legal intentions?? who knows?Does anyone know what exactly it relates to?
I think remedies of breach of contract should cover Damages, Liquidated damages and penalty clauses, Unliquidated damages, remoteness of loss and measure of damages, reliance damages and finally equitable damages. A lot to say for this question -I think it should be worth mmore than 10 marks compared to some others!!.
Hey Joey Question 8 relates to Intention to create legal relation
and we would have had to differentiate whether it was social/domestic agreement or commercial agreement.December 8, 2010 at 9:34 pm #73173@soniasameersohail said:
but please tell me which one is theoritical and which one is calculative..f5 or f6??F6 definitely is a calculation, F5 its a bit of both theoretical and calculative. Check the pass papers on the ACCA website u will get an idea on how the paper is structured. I must say that when i wrote F5 i didn’t do any practice question cus its all about application of what you have learned and by all means learn it by heart and u would be successful. U can also go to both Bpp and kaplan site check the content ensure that all area of the study guide is covered.
I must say ACCA recommend both of these text so u shouldn’t go wrong.
Good LuckSo u wrote F4 how was it and i fig u used kaplan text huh
