Please can i confirm something? You say that we don’t need to use ticks in the exam – but surely if an interest rates futures question comes up, we will need to know/work out the tick size? Would be great if you could confirm..

You don’t add it back, you replace it with the economic depreciation. In the EVA calculation, one of the steps is to add back amortization/depreciation to NOPAT, then deduct economic depreciation instead. If you look at the Kaplan answer, you will see this is what they have done.

If economic depreciation is not given in the question, no adjustment for depreciation/amortization is required.

Yes, I’m now studying towards by 11th exam, have used Kaplan for the previous 10 and have found MANY errors in all their books… It’s not just you!

I feel all of these things as well! As above, I’m just hoping that

1) During the actual exam the adrenaline will keep me focused. As mentioned, i have sat and passed many 3 hours exams.

2/3) The Practice answers are extremely intimidating – there is no way I’d be able to produce something that complex and comprehensive in the time given; Am just hoping that what i am able to produce will be enough to pass

Passed 69% first attempt! Very happy as felt like a lot of the stuff I revised didn’t come up, and the actual syllabus tested was very narrow… Happy to tick this one off!

Passed 1st attempt with 58% ? really didn’t feel like I did very well so super pleased with this result!

That was a horrible exam! Very skewed, much of the syllabus not covered
…. About 2/3 of the exam was consolidation questions but nothing on adjustments/PUPs… Nothing on foreign currencies, nothing on financial instruments, one part of a question B on EPS, nothing on provisions, nothing on inventory, one part of section B on taxation… Not a very well balanced exam at all
