Damn!
Man looks like we picked up some similar points, I can tell almost 60% of my points are similar to yours, probably because we took it very generally, this is my approach, I just took the questions as a consultant not tried to a super accountant, just plain consultant and coming up with solutions with logical comments and common senseWish you all the best bro.
December 10, 2021 at 5:39 am #643643you are right I got the performance excellence model one just a picture nothing else. How did you approach this question?

October 7, 2020 at 3:56 pm #587625there’s nothing wrong with this, OBU has every information of the candidate, everything is authentic. Why do you doubt?
timezone varies. In my case, I got it right on 7th October.
October 7, 2020 at 5:26 am #587525thanks to everyone, my mentor and Gillian M – OBU Registered Mentor
ModeratorHer advice on topic 17 has helped me to build a solid report. I am really thankful to this forum.
November 6, 2019 at 10:20 am #551674thank you very much, Miss Gillian,
First of all a big thank you to say that yes Uber has serious corporate governance issues.
I have chosen this company on the basis of the trending topics on twitter and business journals, had no idea before.I wanted to come up with something fresh and updated. Uber has recently become a public company and this also taken into consideration in my research.
but the main focus is on the former CEO who had a very aggressive approach and for that reason, Uber had serious difficulties in CG.
thanks once again for the suggestions
yes, I have structured in the same manner as you have mentioned. Also followed 2016 UK CG code. ( mentioning about Leadership, Effectiveness, Accountability, Remuneration and Relations with shareholders)
and also included stakeholder and agency theory.
” leadership, Division of responsibilities, Composition, Audit, risk and internal control and Remuneration – note the UK Stewardship code now deals with relations with shareholders)”all mentioned in my research.
November 2, 2019 at 4:42 am #551409Hello miss Gillian
I have chosen Uber. what do you think about this company?
a number of CG scandals are out there and it’s a hotcake item for this topic, I reckon. But, the major problem is not a number of information is available for this company. Like no information about number of NEDS, the number of board meetings and all those stuff which could be linked with the CG Code.
But they have badly performed in terms of good CG. Their management has serious issues.
what’re your thoughts on this?
October 30, 2019 at 6:05 pm #551254Thanks for your reply
I’m doing for UberReally tensed whether should I go for period 39 or 40
October 20, 2019 at 6:52 pm #550293time is running out and I’m still stucked at part C part of the project and unable to bring out further analysis.
while doing this project, I am facing serious trouble with my mind and it seems like everything is jammed up. I can’t even concentrate on my SBR exam.
I have included quite a few issues and after having a recent meeting with my mentor, He said my project lacks analysis.
I have tried to put this things from my way and not being able to express it in a structural manner. I can understand that
How do I overcome this issue, like in part C
what minimal level of effort is required ?October 19, 2019 at 7:58 pm #550201but they said first month 20 n then 50 for each month?
why do we add 20 for next three months
October 15, 2019 at 1:55 pm #549641thank you so much
really good example.I hope to implement in this way.. previously I used to write all five steps.
October 15, 2019 at 6:59 am #549581thanks for your quick reply well That’s the approach I’m following currently but I’m worried because in some cases the IAS IFRS consists alot of information and under exam pressure it’s pretty hard to make a summary of the whole thing and write it.
I just wanted to know, if we have to answer questions based on 5 marks or 10marks
like how many points should we includeTime management is the key issue in SBR exam and I don’t want to fail my exam by writing alot of stuffs and gaining no marks at all for the effort.
Any idea how to overcome this?
October 8, 2019 at 4:29 am #548324can you please explain how do you get this one
(19,000,000 + 6,333,333) x 9/12 = 19,000,0006,333,333?
August 26, 2019 at 12:19 am #528794Thank you so much for elaborating the points with perfect set of examples.
I will take all these into consideration and rework on my project during the week and get back to you.
I’m feeling much relieved ?
August 25, 2019 at 1:57 pm #528758Thank you so much !
Miss Gillian you are a life saver first of all.
You made things quite easier than I really expected to be.Well for this ” With profits and revenue these may have fallen because of inappropriate strategies taken by management and/or lack of foresight on their part in anticipating environmental changes [Think about PEST Factors to understand this comment]”
I had a talk with my mentor regarding pestel, and he said pestel does not fit in CG as it is not CG theory.
” Note you could also compare the independence of Uber’s board with what the UK Code 2018 terms as independent as there is a difference of opinion between US boards and what is considered to be independent in the UK – another thing you could discuss. Size of boards tend to be larger also in the US and bigger is not always better when it comes to decision-making”
this is an excellent which I missed out completely. I had no idea about this, because though uber’s board is already smaller.Thank you once again
I will try to make some amendments with the board point. I have not mentioned specifically anything about the years of UK codes as I have used my texts and kaplan notes for writing about CG.And for the stakeholder theory, yes I would put this into last section. It would be a massive help if you can help me by telling me a bit about ratio analysis section.
Can I put this into this way like
profits and revenues dramatically fallen over past few quarters due to wrong decisions taken by the board of management and some key personnel were resigned in the meantime.Would it be okay ?
I think you are right. Topic 8 is most preferable to students, but I decided to work on this topic because I thought it would be help me to refresh my knowledge for SBL too.
August 24, 2019 at 1:33 pm #528641Thank you very much for making things easier for me. I really appreciate that
” Read the assessment criteria it mentions models, theories and business technique” I could not find this inside the info pack 2019.I have also included ratio analysis in my research. Due to weaknesses I have observed from some article that profits and revenue has fallen for Uber in quite some time. So, I was wondering shall I include this inside part 3 of the report?
And for the stakeholder theory, plenty of reports suggests that Uber drivers and customers are dissatisfied with the company. So, can we put this into stakeholder theory as they failed to keep the stakeholders satisfied?
if you can recall the mendelow’s diagram of stakeholder theory ?And for the mentors
I have chosen one of the highest paid mentor. It is almost equivalent to the amount of 380 pounds. His succession rate is pretty high and students managed to pass it for the first time. However, things are not going well with me. Probably because I have chosen this topic, and He has not mentored anyone under this topic yet since t17 is new.Once again sorry being so talkative !
But things are really getting on my nerves tbhAugust 24, 2019 at 5:10 am #528580Miss Gillian
thanks for your patienceI am sorry but I did not understand the second answer of yours, I do understand every student has different approach.
However, I am just looking for some assistance from your end. Because I have been doing this for hour after hour and not understanding how to make things right. It’s not that I can not do it, but without a proper guideline it seems like I am wasting my time on something which is incorrect and unaccepted.
I have tried to tell this to my mentor as well. However, I am quite dissatisfied with the work of the mentor. Mentors were supposed to guide us by respecting the fact we are students of ACCA and time management is a major concern for us because exams are near.
I would like to know one simple thing from you, it would be helpful as OT always been a savior in my ACCA study career.
“From the articles I have found, the former CEO of uber had bad leadership quality, and he was not working in the best interest of the shareholders too.”
Can we link this with the theory of agency ? As a weakness? And uber changed the CEO ?
And how do I link the stakeholder theory ?
August 23, 2019 at 5:48 am #528470Thank you very much
I would like to know while doing the third part of the project I am having serious difficulty while finding the weaknesses and linking it with the CG models.
I am doing my research on Uber and by googling I have just found some scandals of this company.
Would like to know.
1. can we use this scandal reports as CG weaknesses under-report for making part 3 content?
2. If yes, what should be the correct approach of doing it, like how do I link it with the models that I have used (like stakeholder theory, agency theory, stewardship theory)
it would be helpful if you can check this link out and let me know if it’s good enough to write a report on T17 topic with these articles
August 23, 2019 at 5:32 am #528467Thanks, tutor you got it right!
I really appreciate patience towards us!August 22, 2019 at 4:38 pm #528434really frustrated with the topic !
I have completed almost two part of my project and now struggling with part 3.Unable to structure the part 3 as per requirement.
