    Hi guys, I took the P1 last December for the first time and passed with 63. Only did 2.5 questions for want of time, but could have easily handed all questions set. I believe the trick to passing this paper is simple. Technical knowledge, whilst bolsters confidence isn’t enough.

    You have to:

    A. Know your soft, medium and hard verbs in order to determine how much you write;
    B. you have to kept abreast with the latest news, for example – the current issues with bankers bonuses; ethical issues relating to PPI and horse meat sales; EU proposal to cap bonuses; police corruption as seen in South Africa vis a vis professionalism; UBS scandal in relation to embedded risk, the lack thereof, etc. These are just examples on how risks and ethical issues surrounds our everyday being. Read wide and relate life examples to questions – in addition to the names given in the scenario to show you have read the question and not just delivering what you have read in your textbooks.
    C. Kept your answer straight to the point.

    Hope this helps.
