I was going through IAS 38 and it says:

“Due to the nature of intangible assets, subsequent expenditure will only rarely meet the criteria for being recognised in the carrying amount of an asset. [IAS 38.20].”

Does that mean that correct treatement would be to expense new licences when purchased in later period?

    Mike,

Little better but still not absolutely clear.
If the situation were different and there is in fact company A that controls companies B and C then situation is clear and company A is parent and consolidation is needed. But if companies B and C are controled by individual A than there is no need for consolidation, isn’t this potential source of manipulation?

    regards

    Mike,

There is no company A, there are only companies B and C. Physical person A is owner of those companies.

@perist1984 did you change the demand for division b? falls from 200.000 to 180.000, if you do this did you change the labour and material cost then, adjusted to the new demand?

I changed the demand to 180.000, but left the labour and material cost for 200.000 units…

For the basis of cost why is fixed costs not included? It only uses variable. Should the question have been more specific, or is it a general rule to do this calculation?

i agree if fixed costs are included than pixie would subcontract fairyoxide and spritealite and continue to produce goblinex.
