@kitcat: Congrats, so it turns out that it was a correct preview of the actual results yesterday. Congratulations!
Congrats to everybody who passed and best of luck to the people who missed out. I’m sure you’ll be celebrating in a few months time as well.
BIG THANK YOU to my mentor Mr. Hammad Qureshi. Anybody who’s looking for a mentor to support you all the way from the start of your project to results day – Mr. Hammad Qureshi is your guy.
September 24, 2013 at 7:31 pm #141215I know kitcat bcos all of us are really anxious about the result. I’m surprised there’s nothing on the OBU official FB page about the results. I know we’re not full-time students but we’re still students who’ve sat gruelling ACCA exams and put in a lot of effort into this project, yet apparently the results aren’t a big deal for the university.
September 24, 2013 at 7:24 pm #141213All I can see is links to two letters neither of which is working. It does say something about the letter not being sent yet.
September 24, 2013 at 7:17 pm #141211I am a bit puzzled like a lot of us as to how the result is out minus the grades and letter. I’m still going to wait till the official results come in because this is NOT an official result. Lets just hope we all get through when the formal result is announced tomorrow. All the best!
September 24, 2013 at 3:15 pm #141158I’m really nervous in the lead-up to the result. Its my last eligible attempt and I just hope I scrape through Insha Allah with a PASS. All the best to everyone waiting for the results. Any idea what time they’ll be sending the e-mail? I understand they won’t be sending a results letter anymore. They’ve started a ‘paid’ service for results, equivalency etc. w.e.f. Aug 01 2013. As long as we pass I don’t think we’ll mind paying for these letters though….:)
January 10, 2013 at 11:27 am #111832So Deemy you used the A2Z product that they offered? I’m guesssing that includes the mentoring service as well right? And with 72% you’d be pretty satisfied.
I’m not sure I understand what you mean about proofreading the RAP. Didn’t you pay them for that as well? I mean surely if they’re professional they should be providing that service as well.
November 4, 2012 at 1:39 pm #105212May 2013 is the reply I got from ACCA. So I guess its a make or break session for my Bsc Hons. aspirations in May ’13. It appears its 10 years from the first exam session subsequent to registration bcos I got registered in Dec. 02 and my first exam session was June 03. Thanks for the help guys.
Good to c u’re still around the OT forums ‘Frost’. I dunno if you remember but we met briefly during an OT -Karachi members meet-up in 2009.
September 24, 2012 at 7:12 pm #92185I registered as an Acca student in Dec 2002. My first eligible exam session was June 2003. Is the Nov RAP session my final session or the the May session next year? I mean is the 10 year period from the date of reg. or from the first eligible exam session.
September 4, 2012 at 10:25 am #104734Congrats Barky! Not sure how you arrived at the 10 days though as the results came out on August 08 so that’s almost a month. I’ve written to ACCA to incorporate my ‘banked’ STR against my performance objectives. Hoping for a positive response soon INSHA ALLAH.
August 29, 2012 at 5:20 am #104731Barky have you gotten the e-mail ‘invite’ yet?
August 28, 2012 at 12:45 pm #104729Hi Barky. I passed my final paper this session as well and am through with the Ethics module also even though its not mandatory for me. I have accumulated the relevant experience and ‘banked’ my STR and even though there seems to be some glitch with the perf objectives in my status report but at least the time completed in a relevant role is correct in the status report.
Like you I’m also awaiting the invitation to membership but I wasn’t aware that it took a few weeks for th e-mail to come in.
May 29, 2012 at 7:54 am #97858Paper P5 June 2012 Exam Tips EXP:
Paper P5 is described as a “high-level performance management exam” and that is exactly what the exam itself demands of participants. Adopting a strategic/managerial approach to performance management, you will be expected to write good, focused, relevant answers to discursive questions, while processing and interpreting data provided in Section-A (long scenario)-type questions. Basic valuation methods, incl. Dividend Valuation Model and Discounting Free Cash Flows; The topics that are key in the syllabus include:•Strategic planning and control: make sure you are comfortable with benchmarking (might be linked with the design of adequate management information systems), stakeholders and discussions on ethical issues / CSR. Also, have a close look on budgeting and costing techniques, like ABC/ABM/ABB and be comfortable discussing ‘beyond budgeting’ issues.
•External influences on organizational performance: remember how to use models, like Porter’s 5 forces, when assessing the environment in which a company operateStrategic performance measurement: ability to discuss the purpose and structure of the mission statement; critical success factor analysis in developing performance metrics from business objectives; performance measurement using EVA & non-financial performance indicators; divisional performance measurement and transfer pricing
•Current developments: discussions around targets in not-for-profit organizations, using various methods, like league tablesMay 28, 2012 at 3:20 pm #97857ACCA P5

NOTE: These should only be used in conjunction with proper studying.
We cannot guarantee that these topics will appear in the actual exam as we have not seen the exam papers. Examiners are
not predictable so it is vital that all core syllabus areas are revised fully. The tips are based on Kaplan’s experience and
understanding of the ACCA exams and will help focus your last minute revision.

March 2, 2012 at 8:04 am #94734I’ve used Kaplan for all my exams to date. But I think the BPP text along with the Kaplan exam type questions in the text and the Kaplan Revision Kit is a balanced approach. Further since I got an exemption in F5, the more comprehensive BPP text should help in bridging any knowledge gaps.
February 13, 2012 at 10:40 am #94110First of all congrats to all the people who passed and good luck to the rest of us in June ’12.
Flunked with a 42. Actually due to work constraints all I did was do some reading from the text on the key topics as per the tips, read through some mocks and all of the tech articles. So I had no reasonable gounds for expecting a pass.
However I would appreciate guidance from the people who have passed with flying colours [with marks in the 70s and above] as to how one should go about studying for a good pass mark in P5. I’d just like to clarify I didn’t do F5 due to exemptions so I didn’t have the prior knowledge and should I try to start from F5 this time round?
Thanks
