Failed with 46 🙁 – I left most of Q4 due to time pressure. Can someone please tell me what everyone means by “Link Theory”?
Thanks 🙂
it means link theory to practical solution. There’s no need to write about model / theory, but you need to show how you apply it in practice (what it helps you to understand, how it can make things work better etc).

Hi Pawel,
Would it be possible for you to share a sample?ACCA provides sample of what is required online. It looks like by asking for somebody’s sample you are asking for a free ride.
Go to the ACCA website, read requirement and write 200 words. If not sure what to write about, click on each PER, it specifies what you need to achieve. Then start with sentence ‘in my position I have achieved this and this’ and then write an example of how you did it.July 15, 2019 at 12:17 pm #523585I expected 48, passed with 52 🙂

Can you share tips for SBL? I will sit in december for SBL?Read carefully through all examiner reports, ACCA website has a lot of useful information on this exam and strategy on how to answer questions. Invest in a book from Kaplan/BPP. And practice. If not sure get a course, but lots of people including, me actually managed to get it right the first time and by themselves.
July 15, 2019 at 11:58 am #523572Passed at 1st attempt with 52. Finally it’s over 🙂
Thank you Open tuition for amazing videos!June 5, 2019 at 3:45 pm #519137@nathan488 said:
Remember though, it states on the mark scheme that any valid suggestion by students can gain equal credit. We’ve just proven that with our two points and that in my opinion we’d both get credit as long as we’ve rationalised them.
What did you say for the ideas on digital platform?
I wrote along the lines of:
– online forum/community
– loyalty cards
– allow author submission and community voting
– increase Facebook/Twitter interaction
– enhance filtering even more
– profile system/birthday rewardsFor Q4(b) I used 6I model for inspiration. I wrote more or less the same, except for I didn’t mention loyalty cards/filtering. Also, I suggested that there should be option to sell books online / deliver by downloading. And that website should be available in other languages too, because they trade globally.

The point about the criticisms – I had this as an ethical concern since I interpreted that dr Xavier has had previous criticisms from esteemed publishers and has not acted upon them or learnt. This is the case with this book since he’s made a plethora of mistakes
As such as I said fiveoak should be very skeptical about retaining him since he obviously is continuing to not learn/improve and it shows unethical traits
Do you think that’s valid?
I just assumed that if there were published articles before then everybody was already aware of mistakes (factual, guotes, omissions etc) and would not use book for studying anyway.
Anyways, I wish that was the only thing I got wrong. Unfortunately I got this creative answering the rest of the questions too ((
June 5, 2019 at 11:10 am #519064For question 2b, I was not sure what I had to be sceptical about, and I guess I was wrong, but I wrote that the impact of the book might not be as big as expert said, because book was based on articles that were already criticised, so academic world was aware of an issue well in advance. And so book could be used to attract attention to the ancient cultures, not as study book.

Bit confused about this one. It felt really easy, but, 4 hours for me was not enough. I could’ve done with another 45 minutes. Hopefully I did enough to pass.Q1) Corp Gov – Pretty easy to get 7/8 issues with board
Q2) Ethical issues with releasing book as is – Being sceptical of the ‘expert’s’ views + perceived lack of commissioning and review committees is what I wrote for 2b.
Q3) S,A,F. I did mine as Financial and Non Financial, only because that’s what the question asked. This was more a non financial cultural one as well as stating there was no where near enough financial data to assess the company’s performance.
Q4) Internal controls issues and how to handle them
4b)Website – Focus on Attract and Retain customers. CRM, 6 Is for this one
Q5) Table on how various elements of the company are viewed and actions. Can’t remember what I did here, but it was done in the remaining 4 minutes I had left. There were about 10 marks for this so I imagine it needed some notes with it.Just typing this up makes me see how easy it was but for some reason, I just didn’t have enough time. Annoyed with is if I don’t pass.

I thought question 4a was on post project review. There was quite a lot of information on how bad the project was managed.

2b even I didn’t do that
That 6 marks one right?
I didn’t understand the question properly so I left it to do it lastI’m not sure if my logic is right. But I wrote on what was wrong with process. There was criticism of articles – same for the book should have been evident even before commissioning it. So I suggested to make research b4 commissioning, then have discussion of book before it’s written and then chapter by chapter review
April 24, 2019 at 3:40 pm #514009for SBL I would recommend Kaplan. Book is more user-friendly (I have both).
April 15, 2019 at 8:22 am #5126771st attempt, 61%. Happy that I won’t have to open these books again 😀

Regarding the impairment calculation, as per IAS 36, Cash flow projections should relate to the asset in its current condition – future restructurings to which the entity is not committed and expenditures to improve or enhance the asset’s performance should not be anticipated. So, the value in use in the question was based on these contingent considerations. Therefore, the real impairment -in my opinion-was bigger, due to the real value in use which was lower than the value given in the question.impairment was claculated based on value in use (which was based on assumptions, plus costs to bring factory to working conditions were just estimates). this part i figured out, but messed up a lot with calculations. +2 points for risk, -4 for presentation 😀

Right. Legal proceeding is disclosed under seperate section, mostly after auditor s responsibility section. And restriction wrt to evidence is qualified opinion and basis of opinion. KAM is not used.nope, legal proceedings haven’t started and are only possible. referral to company’s activity as illegal raises litigation risk and is unprofessional.

i am planing to do AFM next time. i have passed my all exams with self studies ATX as well (today). i am asking do i need any tuition for AFM. Is it hard papers. which paper is best paper.AFM is not hard. Self study is also possible. Open tuition offers good videos, but I would still recommend buying revision kit from BPP, because it covers most of material (I did so and I passed at 1st attempt ).
January 14, 2019 at 8:27 am #5016211st attempt, 71% ))
December 12, 2018 at 2:17 pm #491870I have it negative..
