Hello,
I don’t know if it’s appropriate to post my question here but I did’t find other topics about it.
In the resubmission statement form, I see the signature on the last line. Do I have to print it out, sign on it and then scan again so I have a soft copy? Can I submit a word file of the resubmission statement?
Thanks.
May 16, 2015 at 8:59 am #246310@trephena: What I was asking is that when I use the company website in my research, the intext reference would be something like (XYZ, 2013) if the news on the website was dated 2013. However, when I used the company’s annual report, I would have also cited (XYZ, 2013). So how can markers know if it’s from the website or from the annual report from the intext reference? Do I have to add something to clearify the difference?
Thanks Trephena.
May 15, 2015 at 7:59 pm #246247@Trephena Thank you for your answer. Aslo I want to ask when I draw a table of some figures taken from the financial statements of the company, I state like this under the table
(Source: XYZ FS 2012, 2013, 2014; Author to arrange table)
Is it fine to do so?
And when I use information on the company website, I reference in text (XYZ, 2013). For the annual report, it is also (XYZ, 2013). So I don’t see the difference or am I doing wrong?
Thank you in advance for your response.
May 15, 2015 at 4:35 am #246043Hi Trephena,
I want to ask some more questions on the referencing.
1. When do I need to specify page number for my in-text reference and also overall reference?
2. If I use the news on the internet, do I have to specify the date?
Thank you so much.
May 13, 2015 at 10:53 am #245673Hi Trephena,
I think I saw your answer for this question somewhere but I just want to make sure as I’m very worried about my RAP. I haven’t numbered my reference and one teacher said I MUST number them. This is to avoid the thinking that maybe I stated many references in the list but not actually use them in my project at all. Do I have to do so?
Your help means a lot to me. Thank you in advance.

I want to ask how do I reference a picture from a website?
Thank you for support.
May 8, 2015 at 4:41 pm #244809May 8, 2015 at 9:45 am #244776Hi, I have some questions that needed your help. This is the marker’s comment for my RAP:
“You have the basis of a good project. it is interesting and well written. However, the only referencing within your financial analysis is in relation to the annual report of DHG and it’s comparator. This could be due to poor referencing (and there is certainly a lack of overall referencing), or it could mean that more research is needed outside of the annual report”
1. What does “overall referencing” mean? Is it the file referencing I submitted?
2. They said “within your financial analysis”, does it mean my business analysis is okay?
3. If my other parts were okay, I only need to adjust my financial analysis?
4. If I still make some adjustments to my model including SWOT and Value Chain analysis as well, will the passes be carried forward?
5. I passed the SLS so for the submission, I only need to submit my RAP, appendix, reference and the statement, not my slides?
Please help me. Thank you so much.
May 8, 2015 at 9:14 am #244759@trephena. Hi, I want to ask something about my reference.
1. In my financial analysis, most of my reference comes from the internet which are news and reports from securities companies. Is it okay to do so?
2. I feel like to explain for the trends of my company, every reason I give is taken from another source. In one paragraph, I used and cited one or two references in text. Is that considered not my own work? Please help me. I’m very worried. I would really appreciate it.
April 16, 2015 at 4:45 pm #241537April 16, 2015 at 4:40 pm #241536Hi Trephena,
I’m having a problem with the financial statements. As I failed last time, I need to update the financial statements to last year which is 2014. In 2014 financial statement, there are some reclassifications in the income statement of the year 2013 so that revenue and selling expenses were different. So I want to ask if I still keep the figures in 2013 or change them according to the new financial statement? If I change them so that they are comparable to 2014 figures, they are not likely to be comparable to 2012 figures any more.
Can you please help me on this problem? Thanks a lot.
April 16, 2015 at 12:00 pm #241514Hi all,
I failed last time because I “have not demonstrated the use of a balanced range of sources of research” as the marker commented. Last time I asked my mentor and she said that in this part, only annual reports are needed; others like comments or research from securities companies would be subjective and not my own work. Therefore, my report failed for only using annual reports.
So I want to ask what other sources I can use for my explanations for the ratios?
Because I chose a local company, can I use sources written in Vietnamese on the internet?
Thanks for your answer.
April 16, 2015 at 11:26 am #241512Hello,
I’m having problem with word count. I failed the lastest submission with the comment “Please note that the word count of your report includes all words. You have included some diagrams in your report which have not been counted due to their format. Please be aware that, with the inclusion of these, you are over your word limit.”
Can anyone tell me how you include words in those charts and graphs in your report? I haven’t figured it yet. I’m using Microsoft word 2007.
Thanks a lot.
April 16, 2015 at 11:17 am #241511Hi Trephena,
I failed the RAP with the following feedback for referencing:
“As above, referencing needs to be improved. All information, both financial and non financial, needs to be referenced. For example, on page 15 you state; “During 2011, GPM had decreased compared to the previous year (50.06%), which was due to the quick rise of imported raw materials’ price whereas finished product’s price cannot increase accordingly. ” Where has this information come from? ”
So I don’t know if it means my number (50.06%) or the explanation (quick rise of imported raw materials’ price) must the referenced here. The number was calculated due to financial statements of the company and submited as an excel sheet along with my report.
And as you said, all the graphs and charts must be referenced. So if I draw a graph and say “source: annual report ..” I’m good to use the numbers on that graph in my writing below or do I have to reference them again?
Thank you. I really appreciate your answer.
October 16, 2014 at 6:01 pm #204638October 16, 2014 at 5:21 pm #204630@trephena Thank you for your advice. Actually my ratio analysis I just wrote was about 3,500 words but my mentor said I should cut down and aim for 2,500 words. I think this number is definitely not enough for what I want to explain.
So as I read some of your comments on this page, in my part 3, I should first look at my SWOT and my other model (whether it’s value chain or PEST), then financial ratio would be the major part, right?. Recommendation I intend to write about 500 words. I wonder if this structure is OK.
One more thing I want to ask is about literature review. As my friend did topic 15, she included findings of others about working capital and its importance in literature review. In topic 8, instead of these, do we only need to explain our models and their limitations?
October 14, 2014 at 6:34 pm #204442@trephena Hi, I’m doing Part 3 of the research and my chosen company is a pharmaceutical one in Vietnam. My mentor suggested me to use SWOT and Value chain. This is the first time my mentor help with an OBU research so she does not have much experience. I want to ask if Value chain is acceptable or not?
I’m also quite confused about the structure. I found this on the internet and I wonder if it’s a good example (REMOVED BY TREPHENA)
Normally how many words I need for ratio analysis and how many for business analysis (SWOT and Value chain)? Right now I aim at 2,500 words for ratios, 1,000 for SWOT and 500 for Value chain.
What are your suggestions? Thank you so much.
