    P4 – 37
    P5 – 54

They are my last two. Passing P4 would be nothing less than a miracle.
I suggest that we all come back on 8th after the results and update our posts with the actual marks. Just to see how close or far off we are.

A very fair paper!! Much better than past exams questions that I have seen. The pass rate for this paper should be the best I guess. Yes it was time pressured, but I guess with rigorous question practice that shouldn’t be a problem. Time and again ACCA and training providers have reiterated the need to practice questions in exam time. I wasn’t that well prepared though and don’t think will clear but am happy about the fairness of the exam.

    Ohy well only 42% but i did pass P1, P3 and P6 ,
Personally i blame Allah for my fail mark as i asked him for help, the other three papers i prayed to my real god. next time for P2 and P4 i will be asking the real god again for help…

How come I have been praying to Allah and I have never failed? I know your type. Definitely you are not a muslim. Allah is the creator of the universe and all that exist and He is the real God whether you like it or not.

Both of you, this is not a forum for religious debates. We are all studying to be professionals and are expected to behave like one. Take your religious bickering to one of the forums out there on the internet. Lastly, praying to any God won’t help, your preparation and performance in the exams will. Rant over.

    Hi guys:

    labour rate VAR – ($12 – $11.4) X12000 = 7200 F
    Eff. VAR (10250 – 12000) X $12 = $21000(A)

    TOTAL VAR = 13800A

    Plan Rate VAR – new rate = $6 *0.95 = 5.70*2 = 11.4
    (12 -11.4) * 12000 = $7200F

    Plan OP = O (11.4 – 11.4) * 12000

    Plan Eff VAR-20% slower = 0.5*1.2 = 0.6
    (12300 -10250) *12 =24600A

    Plan Op Var – (12300 – 12000)*12 = 3600 F

    TOTAL VAR :-24600+3600+7200 = 13800A

Sadly It took me 5 mins to figure it out once I left the exam room…tis what happens when panic sets in….I’ll be back in June…*sigh*

I got exactly that!!! But q1 for me was a disaster and struck 1.5 pages and spent hell lot of time figuring that out. I might be back in june too….

    Hi Guys!
I thought labour rate per batch was 6$ and hours spent on batch 30 min. Is it correct? Budgeted production was 24000 batches, which gives us 12000 labour hours. So for calculating planning labour rate variance I multipled 30 min by 20% and arrived to 36 min spent on batch production with a reduced payment rate of 5.70 $ Did anyone get same figures? or I just completely misunderstood question?

    Yes I did.

How did you account for the deffered consideration, in regards the amount and where it was on the balance sheet?

Def consideration would form part of your liabilities with the ‘unwound’ discount and the unwound discount bit going to RE of the parent. So at the acq the total cost would be shares + 5m consideration which will become 5.4 after a year. Kaplan had a very good explanation on this and it just stuck in my mind. Glad about that!!

well we say easy cuz we managed to complete the paper and you really don’t have to balance each and everything..some of the calcs were straightforward and earn u marks. moreover csfp was cakewalk and that is the reason a lot of us are saying easy. Anyway, I am going to stop discussing this as it is making me nervous. LOL.

Q2 dividend payment was 9.6 cents per share. Meaning 24,000 off of admin expenses and off of RE

Yippee…1 more mark there..Although my SCI and SOFP didn’t tally. Cashflow didn’t tally as well. Came to close only diff of 550..what could have that been. I reversed the entire investment income and just took dividends paid to Cashflows.

Paper was damn easy compared to its previous diets which I have seen and especially june 2011. First question was a gift.. straightforward CSFP. The examiner seems to have deliberately set this paper to up his pass rates. But I could have done definitely better if had practiced enough. CSFP tied and I hope they don’t deduct marks for presentation. Also managed to finish the paper although not everything I wrote was correct, but I completed the paper. Hoping to get 50 … but my optimistic subconscious is expecting more than 60.

The opentuition tutor for f7 says … how many marks will you get for writing retained earnings instead of ret ears or ret earns. He says if i were you i would abbreviate like mad.. while calculating goodwill in w2 he uses naodoa i.e. net assets on date of acquisition. Every second counts in this paper.

    Hi

I have just sat for F8 and pretty confident that will clear. Can I take P1 now (I have exemption for F1-F4, and have only appeared for F8 from the skills module) I was thinking of doing F5, F7 and P1. If thats not possible i plan to do F5, F6 and F7. Yes 3 papers may be taxing on my time (I work full time and have a 4 year old as well). But I want to do it, even if it takes throwing my life away for 6 months.

Thoughts and Suggestions welcome. Please let me know if this is practically doable?

    Regards

Nope. I’m in England. It seems everybody was writing away…except me 🙁

Dont worry also depends on the writing style. I began each question and subquestion on a new page. Words cud be more spaced out and some ppl also write on alternate lines. All that cud add up scripts. Also i reckon i wrote too much detail which may have not been required. As far as you covered key points and made sense, you are on your way to pass. Do let us know if you pass.

I felt time pressure too and many who have posted on the forums felt the same. However i attribute this to the relatively easy questions and our excitement to write everything we know. Its very very important to plan the answer and learn when to stop.

On hindsight, I think I may have misunderstood the outsourcing question, I didn’t realise they were thinking of giving the job to the auditing firm, or were they? Also, on the dis/advantages of narrative notes, was she also asking the same about ICQ’s, I only wrote abote the notes, gripes.

Also on the audit report re the corrupted wages back-up thingy, I argued that it was limitation of scope, sure but only merited an “…except for…” qualification because the failure wasn’t pervasive enough to merit a stronger qualification.

The guy sitting in front of me asked for two(!) extra scritps, completely put me off.

It was passable, but I don’t think I’ve done enough. This is so annoying.

If u were at the dubai centre and the guy in front of u was in blue shirt then it was me. Sorry to put u off if it was me.
