Email from ACCA for my Membership application…12 weeks for the certificate, is it being sent from Mars or somewhere ????? Well, at least good to see the “approved” in there“Thanks for submitting your online application.
I am delighted to confirm that your application for membership has been approved.
Your membership status shall be awarded within 10 working days, subsequent to the next meeting of ACCA’s Committee members, with email confirmation dispatched to you shortly thereafter. Your membership certificate will be sealed at the next meeting of ACCA Council which is scheduled to take place on 17th June 2017. Please allow up to twelve weeks from this date for delivery of your certificate”.From my understanding, new members are only sealed quarterly, thus the 12 weeks includes the waiting time for your membership to be sealed.

I applied last week to become a member and today I noticed when I tracked it said graduate pending member. I checked fees and membership fees where due £231. So I paid that but still no email since last week about membership. When I paid I got receipt of payment. What should I do contact them or just wait and see
Your initial membership status does not hinge on whether or not you have paid your membership application fees. The council meets Bi-Monthly to approve new applications, usually the approval or membership update is done later on a Friday. So if it was not the last Friday then hopefully you would see your membership update this Friday
March 15, 2017 at 9:28 am #378317Firstly, Im so very sorry to hear about being laid off from your previous position.
My own little bit of insight / assistance would be:
Never underestimate the value of a well formed CV, spend time scouring articles/websites for further information around creating the “perfect” CV.
Along with your qualifications and experience a well formed CV is at the very least your ticket into an interview. Find out what HR departments look for when it comes to a CV.
From how the file should be named to what should your opening line be?
Long gone are the days where one sends a CV with the full front page in bold reading
“Mr XYC ACCA Curriculum Vitae”.Secondly, once you have an interview you have a fair chance at getting the position.
Analyse the requirements for the position as you will likely be quizzed along these lines. Prepare your answers and verbally practice them.Do extensive research on the company, know their history / financials if available, read into their Corporate social responsibility pages, read news articles. Show that you have done your homework.
March 6, 2017 at 8:38 am #375875Personally:
P2 was tough for me, likely the most difficult of the lot.
P1 and P3 were rather easy – I enjoyed P3.
P5 I did not enjoy the study content, even though I passed first attempt it was a chore.
P7 was easy for me, however my 3 years “Articles” was performed in auditing – This one I barely needed to study for.
February 27, 2017 at 10:43 am #374530I would suggest downloading past papers which would also have an array of questions.
Then most important for me was a resource such as BPP revision questions text. Basically a book full of questions.
February 21, 2017 at 12:19 pm #373479Hi Brenda + others,
Just obtained my membership, I stay in SA, Cape Town.
My addition to the question of study methods / tips:
I personally purchased the BPP study material, and to be honest I did not use all the textbooks. My focus was using opentuition lectures and taking notes. As the lecturers give you insight into real world application which in turn allows you to show this insight in your written exams. (I downloaded these and watched them at 1.4x speed as I didnt have sufficient time to just sit watching videos all day!)
I further made use of both the opentuition Study notes, not to extensively either though. Another focus was examination questions from the BPP revision kit – this is vital to exam preparation, it prepares you for the style and type of questions to expect in the examinations.
I did however make extensive use of the BPP passcards which effectively are summaries/memory cards of the full textbook.
Finally the actual past papers from ACCA were also a must have.

Does any one know how long it takes for the certificate to reach you upon being declared a member?Certificates are sealed every quarter, next being in March. Thereafter 6-8 weeks for delivery per the ACCA call centre.
February 13, 2017 at 6:25 am #372151That being said it may be worth considering picking-up the required modules for the Bsc Honours from Oxford Brookes.

Congratulations mrafael and chisasula. I just submitted my application for membership yesterday so I guess I have a few weeks to wait yet before getting my member status.Thank you,
I would seem every other Friday they meet and by the afternoon applications to membership are processed. However I noted that people were being admitted weekly after the recent exams so hopefully they are still meeting weekly for your case. Either way the trend seems to be next week Friday for you or the following Friday.
Congratulations!
February 10, 2017 at 11:13 am #371849A month after my application for membership I’m also officially a member!
February 7, 2017 at 11:10 am #371458Could you please draw a parallel between using metaphors and one of the ACCA modules? Maybe a few practical examples?
I would be interested in finding out what types of associations people would use. I have never investigated this study style.
February 7, 2017 at 8:12 am #371451In my country where unemployment is quite high, having a guaranteed job after studies is actually a bonus!
That being said, one can interrogate the types of packages they will offer a newly qualified individual and compare that on the market. If it is substantially lower perhaps it may not be worth it. (The lower offer of course must factor in the benefit from your studies/other receipts from the company beforehand)
However if you do need financial assistance this may be your best way forward.

Hi, mine got approved yesterday. Wondering if there is likely to be a members meeting tomorrow – I hope so. Good luck to anyone else in my positionI submitted my application 16 January 2017, did my due diligence and called every working day since then to confirm all is in order and things are on track. Further to hopefully gain info on when the meeting is happening for approvals.
Finally yesterday on the 11th working day, I queried again concerned about the 11 days between application and approval and they contacted the members department who had never received my application due to a system error.
So like you I have just had my membership application approved yesterday, really hoping I do not need to wait another 10 working days for membership approval.
Disappointment of note, still cant use the designation. (Or apply to new job opportunities, or update Linkedin with my credentials.)

Council meetings and committee meetings are different.Memberships are approved by ACCA staff then confirmed by the committee meeting held every 2 weeks. This meeting is what you need to become a member.
Council meetings are 5 times per year (march 11th next) and that’s were certificates are finalised. For most this is irrelevant as the certificate isn’t truly needed.
There was a committee meeting late last week, Friday I think.
I passed my last exam last week, applied on Monday. Approved on Wednesday and membership was granted on Friday afternoon.
So I spent 4 days as an Affiliate!
Well that is disappointing”
I applied for membership on 16 January 2017 and still waiting for any response. I was under the impression the committee would meet this Friday. Hopefully I do not have to wait another week!
Desperate to explore the job market but only want to do so with my membership status.
January 26, 2017 at 7:40 am #369612I will attempt to provide you with my personal experience which unfortunately will be quite biased.
I passed P7 on my 2nd attempt scoring 48% on my first attempt (This really hit me hard)
I passed P5 on my first attempt.
Working in the auditing field I found P7 to be quite easy, that being said I can understand how those who are not in the audit environment may struggle to grasp many of the concepts and their application. Auditing is however a subject that requires extensive focus on past papers and examination questions. Generally similar scenarios will usually pop up to previous questions you have attempted. I further find that attempting exam questions further expanded my understanding of auditing and the why and how of its application.
I really enjoyed P3 and like you really disliked P2, I honestly thought P5 would be similar to P3 but this was not at all the case. It was also my last paper so it could be I was just over the whole studying thing.
P5 has a focus on knowing many business models for analyzing a companies performance, this would include risk of corporate failure. The problem for me arose with the fact that there are many models that could be applied to a single scenario and for exam preparation it became quite en-cumbersome to study them all and find where best they fit.
Ultimately I have not provided you with an answer on which one you should pick but hopefully you can glean some insight from my experience and make a better informed decision.
All the best! I would love to say that its all worth it in the end, but desperately waiting for my membership approval (Should be tomorrow!) So I cant really say its all worth it yet since I havent technically finished!
But Im certain that it will all be worth it! Just look at all the job ads for random places over the world. The amount of times the requirements include, CPA, CIMA, ACCA shows the potential of the membership.
April 18, 2016 at 4:00 pm #311373Rather shocked, I thought I had failed this for sure, my exam approach I felt was off.
Beyond ready for P5 and P7 in June – then Im done! Already have a 3 year SAICA/ACCA articles completed. - AuthorPosts
