First time pass with 86%, thanks to Opentuition, BPP learning materials and Affaf Noor presenting official ACCA revision lectures.
June 8, 2018 at 2:37 pm #457812Thanks for clarifying, John.
Are you revising the lectures notes for the Sept and Dec 2018 exams? If so, when can we look forward to the revised notes becoming available?
April 1, 2018 at 12:04 pm #444367Hi Lambkin and Brenda,
My approach was as follows:
1. Read relevant section/chapter in BPP study text that relates to Opentuition lecture
2. Watch Opentuition lecture
3. Attempt Opentuition practice questions
4. Work through BPP Revision Kit examples sticking to recommended time for questions so that I had a realistic idea of what I would score
5. Review those questions where I didn’t score well to identify whether the issue was a gap in knowledge, time management etc.
6. Attempt Mock ExamsI found engaging with the Study Text more effective when I could discuss a chapter with a study partner or knowledgeable friend after reading it. I found this the next best way (after the Revision Kit) to work on areas I found challenging. You’re welcome to contact me as an Opentuition Study Buddy to discuss areas in this way.
All the best!
March 28, 2018 at 7:26 am #443960Hi lambkin,
What is your approach in preparing for the exam?
I’m happy to share the approach I used. I attribute my success to it.
January 8, 2018 at 9:17 pm #427922Passed with 84%.
Thank you John for your quick responses to queries and quality material.
January 4, 2018 at 5:29 pm #427263I understand.
I pictured a survey scenario in a public place where every nth person is stopped at an entrance/exit to complete the survey.
I suppose a more relevant way would be to think of data about a population on a spreadsheet and having to complete the exercise.
Thanks for clarifying John!
January 4, 2018 at 3:37 pm #427247Thanks John.
The question is from BPP’s Revision Kit and reads as follows:
“Which of the following sampling methods require a sampling frame?
(i) Random
(ii) Stratified
(iii) Quota
(iv) Systematic”The answer in the textbook is (i), (ii) and (iv) without much of an explanation.
I agree that (i) and (ii) require sampling frames; however, with systematic sampling, I understood that one only needed to know the size of the total population so that one could calculate an appropriate sample size and then decide on a starting point from which sample members would be selected at every sampling interval until the sample size was met. I don’t understand why this process would need a list of every member of the population?
June 29, 2016 at 6:25 pm #324413Thanks for the prompt response. I’ll check back later.
April 5, 2016 at 2:12 pm #309064Thank you for the explanation.
March 31, 2016 at 9:37 am #308737It’s a pleasure 🙂
March 31, 2016 at 7:22 am #308726Reply from one of BPP’s authors:
“Hi Mishern,
Thank you for your emails.
Please accept my apologies for the two errors which you have identified. Our products do pass through strict technical checking and quality control processes but unfortunately, particularly when producing material to tight deadlines, errors occasionally slip through. I understand that any error can cause confusion and disrupt study and I am sorry about this.
I have created an errata sheet for publication on our website, and I am attaching this draft version for your information. The final version will appear on our website shortly.
Thank you for bringing these errors to our attention.”
The errata sheet is available at https://www.bpp.com/about-bpp/aboutBPP/StudentInfo.
March 25, 2016 at 9:34 am #308245Thank you, John.
I will try to contact BPP directly to seek clarification and revert back.
Have a great Easter.
January 1, 2016 at 10:49 am #293133I used the BPP Study Text and Revision Kit. 87%. Found the exam considerably trickier than any of the material, but am very happy with the result (I expected a 60% result when I submitted my answers).
Here’s to the new year and productive learning!
