Thank you john Moffat for always making complicated papers more enjoyable than they really are. So so grateful 🙂

ISAs in P2? Okay thank you for your input.. I’ve been looking at P7 forums and I’m a little bit hesitant now about getting ahead of myself and jumping into something I genuinely want to be good at. Besides the risk of failing on something that I do every single day will have a great demotivational impact on my studies. It may be best to go for P2.

This confused me too! I ended up just doing 1-tax rate so 1-0.3 and used 0.7 / 7% which is probably so wrong but I had no idea what to do with it!

I almost, almost did the same thing in the exam but I had a feel it’ll be too wrong so I ignored it completely and just added the Mv of the bank loan without calculating its weight with the rest. Damn now I feel like using the after tax cost of capital could be right. Hopefully for your sake!

The first 15 MCQs like WHAT ON EARTH!!!
Also I think I spent about 20 mins of the exam just literally staring at ‘bank loan has a variable int cost’ – paralysed and my brain completely froze decided to completely ignore its weighting % even though I included its market value to calculate the rest

I also chose question 2 only because I ran out of time and with only 15mins left it seemed like the logical decision. Wrong! But question 4 was too long however, would’ve probably been much much easier. But guys how did you do the mendelow matrix? I took me almost 20mins trying to figure that out.

Thank you opentuition! First attempt to F8 and didn’t practice as much as the lecturers recommend, was sure I did terrible in the exam but I PASSED with 54%. Your lectures are gold.

Thanks!! I suppose I dont have any further questions in regard to consolidations now.. Hopefully.
I would use any other method but unfortunately this is the only method I know. I haven’t watched the open tuition lecture videos since last night was the first time I use open tuition for help.
    Will definitely check them out.
    Thanks again 🙂

Thank you, that makes a lot more sense.
However, when doing the net assets list.. Do I bring in all year’s retained earnings (even if it’s a mid year aquisition or say 8/12 as in your example) or do I only put the post aquisition retained earnings at the CSFP date column?

Never mind my first question. I’ve realised what I’ve been doing wrong. I should deduct the post acquisition profit for the year from the sfp figure of retained earnings to get the pre, then show all the retained earning as at the end of the year as the post aquisition. Right?
Now, what do I do in case of the profit for the year were a negative figure?
