    Hello gromit,
    Still got some confusions when I attempted June 2009 – McIntyre Resort (MR)
    for (a)(i), I don’t understand the answer when it became TR=760X – 0.25X2 and MR= 760 – 0.5X, but I can say here that I understood how to arrive at Px=760 – 0.25X. Please help me.. πŸ™

    oh now I understand. That’s why I really thought the formula was a (+) equation and was confused with the negative equation given in the solution of mine. Okay, I should have remembered that. Thanks with the example.

    In the question I attempted, it has also given the figures just like you did, that’s why I was confused since b= -3(if use, your example above) so the equation should have become + since (-)(-)= +. So, here, you mean that we should have use the number of b, regardless whether it’s negative three, or positive three, we should have put the number(three) in the equation since what matters is that the Q terms end up with a negative in front of it, right? okay. got it already. thank you very much!

    Thank you for the above knowledge-enlightenment. Understood them already. Here it goes, another question December 2006, I just want to confirm about the formula being used in this question.

    1) December 2006 – Vision – Question (a) Calculation on the profit gap at 30 November 2009
    For calculation of Birdcam-V, since the Question stated that if Sales Price decreases/increases Sales Unit will increases/decreases as well, therefore the solution has stated the calculation of OPTIMUM SALES QUANTITY and SALES PRICE. Solution stated the usage of Demand Curve Formula of P= a+bQ and Marginal Revenue(MR) Formula (which I am not sure what is the formula for real but I understand the usage is to gain the number of units(Quantity) that maximises profits. ) since I think the solutions just gave me some calculation problems, since it has stated that MR Formula, MR = a-2bQ. Is MR=a-2bQ is the right formula? since I though the real formula was MR=a+2bQ. Which one was right, really? getting confused already. Please enlighten me on this. Thanks πŸ™‚

    Praise to God Almighty~ got 51% which I was surprised myself. Really thank God for all the hard works I’ve put though. Started self-study at the end of April and it was fruitful with all the lectures and revision lectures I watched in opentuition.com

    This was my Third attempt, 30, 40, 51% the marks are increasing means my knowledge too is improving. πŸ™‚

    I would say the only source I managed to make myself self-study was opentuition, and of course high discipline and determination. I did not attend any classes outside. Right now with one balance paper. Gonna sit for P5 for my last paper of ACCA, if God wills. I would say all the revision notes and lectures was very good from opentuition. The tutor too, John Moffat is great in which he responded very quick to the questions that I asked in Ask the Tutor section.

    Overall, I would like to say Thank you very much to opentuition and now has recommended this source of study to my other friends as well. Will be using this site again for P5 and hoping pass as well like p4. Thanks John! πŸ™‚

    Actually John, before I attempt those Questions, I was planning my answer… and then I got stuck at the Grabbe Variant part.. and blaming myself for not remembering the method and how to do that.. -_-‘
    But I realized the Pilot 2006 was really hard to attempt, and I wish the coming exam was not going to be like that, please..
    As for me I found the Q4 (a) only the best part that I could do.. When I say hard, I mean the report as well, when I re-write the answer, it was just too lengthy but the discussion was still relevant though except for part Q4 (b) about finance the debt in USA and China I was just about..is this really the solution? I think my mind still can;t go that far.. That’s why I am afraid and trying to do all mocks if I still can..huhu

    Thanks John, by the way πŸ™‚
