I have received the email with congratulations too. It was my first submission but I have been trying to complete my RAP for the last two years. I got there in the end thanks to the extraordinary mentoring experience of Gillian, my mentor for the last few months, and the encouragement and support I received from her along the way. I would highly recommend Gillian as a mentor!
The opentuition referencing guide and Topic 17 thread were of invaluable help too, thank you!June 22, 2018 at 2:19 pm #459719Dear Gillian, Please can I ask for your advice – do you think that RAP on Sports Direct should focus on the zero-hours contracts issue or the controlling shareholder vs minority shareholders issue?
If on zero-hours contracts issue (which the company is ‘famous’ for – that’s why I am leaning towards it), then from corporate governance perspective would it be a problem of ethics/values (the board did not set the correct values which led to people being treated badly) or risk oversight (it resulted in negative publicity and contributed to the decline in share price)? Thank you in advance.October 21, 2017 at 12:15 am #412722That’s what I thought, thank you!
October 20, 2017 at 8:48 pm #412714Hi Trephena, just to make sure I understand the new title correctly – as far as I can see, it asks for “an assessment (…) of the organisation’s response”, does not specifically mention the impact on stakeholders (although it makes sense to evaluate the response in terms of the impact on stakeholders, as you suggest in your posts). Please can you clarify?
August 23, 2017 at 12:32 am #403089Thank you.
By ‘part 2’ do you mean: ‘an assessment of the origins of the corporate governance issue(s) and the organisation’s response’? I’m not yet sure how to structure my analysis.
August 22, 2017 at 3:32 pm #403001Hi Trephena, I didn’t manage to complete my RAP in the previous period. Luckily – following your advice – I picked a company with weak governance (Sports Direct) and I’m now working on re-arranging my material to meet the new requirements. I was wondering which business models are relevant to the new topic in our opinion? Do you think the stakeholder mapping should still be included?
May 4, 2017 at 5:35 pm #384870Hello, has anyone come across any stats what is the rate of success for shareholders voting against directors in the UK? For example, Legal & General say they voted against 89 UK board directors in 2016. Are there any stats how many directors are not re-elected?
October 3, 2016 at 8:58 pm #342341Hi Trephena, with regards to Part 2 – do we need to include the brief “literary review” mentioned earlier on this forum in Part 2 or should it be included in Part 1? Thank you.
April 28, 2016 at 10:20 pm #312991Please can you email me too? Many thanks
February 26, 2016 at 4:03 pm #302212Thank you again. I’m also considering Barclays but I’m worried there are too many CG issues to tackle within the word limit and I’m hoping a RAP about GSK will be more focussed. I’ll think about it a bit more 🙂
February 26, 2016 at 1:01 pm #302163Hello Trephena, inspired by your great advice on this forum (thank you!!), I have also chosen T17 for my RAP. Do you think the change to the requirements you mentioned above is likely to affect the November 2016 submission? Also, I am thinking about analysing corporate governance at GSK. Do you think it could be a good choice?
Many thanks in advance 🙂September 12, 2015 at 9:55 pm #271539Hi Pawel, What do you think about the LSBF lectures for papers P1 and P3? Were they helpful? How did you find the revision classes? I’m trying to decide whether I should try the self-study route, using open tuition resources or if I need the additional help. Many thanks in advance.
