Or you could start out at half 7 and go to Birmingham? I go down the M6 and it really isn’t THAT bad..certainly not worth arriving 4 hours early to the exam centre!!
August 30, 2013 at 7:14 am #139312I did it self study accastudent94…..don’t think it’s uncommon!
August 24, 2013 at 9:15 am #139004I would recommend doing as many past papers you can get your hands on so that you get a feel for the types of questions that are likely to be asked.
August 24, 2013 at 9:14 am #139003I am aiming towards getting the degree with Oxford Brookes, so I’m trying to get an average of high 60’s on the F papers so that I don’t have to do amazingly well in the project to get a first class/upper second class degree. Once I hit the P papers I will just be happy with a pass.
August 22, 2013 at 6:48 pm #138926No problem…it’s nice knowing there are other mum’s on here studying! I’ve never seen posts of any others before xx
August 21, 2013 at 2:43 pm #138826I am also a stay at home mum (although only to 2) and am currently studying towards F7. I have only managed 2 papers since June 2012…but I was heavily pregnant when I was supposed to take one in Dec 12. I am the same as merielv – I try to study about 5 nights a week as soon as both kids are in bed. Usually about 8 – 10.

heyy guys can u all tell me how many hours do we have to study in order to pass the acca exams or when is the ideal time to start revising & practicing the paper….3 mths,1 mth ??Personal reference is also accepted:)
Is studying 1 month before the exam is ok or not?
It really depends on your personal circumstances to be honest.
I can only really study for 1-2 hours a day, including around exam time…so I start going through the material usually straight after I’ve finished with the previous exam I’ve taken. I think if you wanted to start studying a month at a time, you’d need to be doing 5 hours a day just to get through the material and then revise it all again. Again – it depends on what your memory is like!!
August 8, 2013 at 8:09 am #136126Passed 2nd time around with 66%…thought after the exam that if I had managed to pass then I’d just scrape through so pretty pleased 😀
September 12, 2012 at 11:37 am #104948I would start doing practice questions a lot further in advance than a week before the exam. I am doing the same as you at the minutes – making notes from the book, but I’ll probably start doing practice papers mid-October so that I’ve got plenty of time to sort out any things that I can’t do. I start of gradually by working through the questions alongside the textbook, then work up to doing them without any aids once I’ve got the gist of things.
July 5, 2012 at 7:23 am #101764I can only try to answer your 2nd question I’m afraid. You might get marks for getting the right answer, and maybe a couple of marks for your working…but as the question was pretty specific with the method it wanted you to calculate the answer, I wouldn’t expect many more than that.
Sorry I can’t give you better news 🙁 if it’s any consolation – you attempted more than I did with that question!!
June 11, 2012 at 1:48 pm #99374It was dreadful! The only topic that I’d practiced that came up was variances.
June 9, 2012 at 10:05 am #99673I’m expecting abc, some kind of budgeting question, varinces…etc.
I would like: cvp analysis, linear programming & expected values/decision trees…but as they’re all in the same ‘deciion-makinh techniques’ section, i,’m guessing it’s imoossible!May 20, 2012 at 5:39 pm #93102Yes they are already on the site – if you go to the F4 notes page and scroll down to the bottom, that is where they are.
April 27, 2012 at 11:11 am #96499The admins don’t organise them, students have to group together and do it themselves. If you want study sessions, then I suggest organising some 🙂
April 27, 2012 at 11:10 am #95841on the acca website?
April 3, 2012 at 8:31 am #96033I’d definitely recommend making sure you study variance analysis really thoroughly – it seems to crop up quite alot!
April 1, 2012 at 8:51 am #95516Whenever enough people reply to say they want it at the times suggested.
Me & another girl are having our own study session on Tues evening at 7pm (GMT) – we’re planning on looking at the English Legal System. I’m sure she wouldn’t mind if other people came along too…we’re doing it in the F4 chat room.
March 29, 2012 at 8:51 am #95514It also just occurred to me that I probably should of asked people which variant they are doing!! As obviously Global people will only be able to study so much with those doing the Eng variant.
I am doing Eng.
March 29, 2012 at 8:40 am #95513Ok, so Sunday & in the evening seems to be a popular choice. Would anyone be willing to run a session at this sort of time? I can’t do it myself as I work Sunday evenings…
I’m thinking that more than once a week would probably be beneficial, as we’ve only got just over 2 months left. Is a Wednesday evening also good for anyone?
March 27, 2012 at 9:21 am #95833Which text book? BPP, Kaplan, etc?
March 24, 2012 at 6:58 am #95509Are you guys both based in the UK or elsewhere?
It just occurred to me that people should probably post their timezone as well!
I’m GMT 🙂
March 21, 2012 at 1:13 pm #95585Hi Max,
Unfortunately Bournemouth is a little far for me….however if you’d be up for meeting up on the Open Tuition chat rooms then I’d be good for that? I know it’s a little difficult to revise when you’re not face to face, but we could still ask questions and go through practice problems?

March 15, 2012 at 12:17 pm #92561Hi everyone, from what I’ve seen on watching other study sessions on the chat rooms…the groups just sort of work through topics (perhaps using OT notes)..run through practice questions together, quiz each other, etc.
Maybe people could start suggesting a couple of days and times that would be good for them so we can try and get loads of people online at the same time?
Weekends might be an idea as that may be the least likely time when people are at work?
Every time a session is arranged we could specify which topics we are going to try and cover, then before the session we could try and study that area as much as possible so that we get maximum benefit from it.
March 8, 2012 at 7:53 am #93298So basically it doesn’t make a blind bit of difference if I write the year of the case down? Sweeeeeet….
March 8, 2012 at 7:49 am #93095Wow Mike!!! That’s amazing….thanks for the help 😀
