Thanks – does that mean that all tests must fall into either analytical procedures or tests of detail at the substantive level? If you were to make management enquiries at the substantive level would this also be tests of detail or does it depend on what you’re asking them?
May 23, 2013 at 1:40 pm #126867Thank You – so graph first and then either simultaneous equations to find the absolute values or as per this question we know the value for X so just substitute this into the equation 🙂 much appreciated
May 22, 2013 at 3:41 pm #126702Further to the above what’s the best way to solve the simultaneous equation….
P0.5+S0.75=12,000
P0.27+S0.27=5400Does it matter which way round you do it..?
May 22, 2013 at 9:18 am #126659That’s great 🙂 thanks John
May 22, 2013 at 9:12 am #126658Thanks John – that’s good to know 🙂
May 22, 2013 at 9:10 am #126657Is it just me or is it really confussing to know when to put a square and when to put a circle on the decision tree!! I have done several questions on it and they never seem logical to me!!! How do you know when it’s an outcome and when it’s a decision? I know it should seem obvious but if you could provide a basix example that would be great…..
Many Thanks
May 20, 2013 at 1:14 pm #126296Hello,
Could you please let me know which SA this is in as I can only find Decision Trees in recent SA articles….
Many Thanks
May 20, 2013 at 1:05 pm #126294Are these the kind of questions that could come up for the new part of the syllabus? I found these as examples on the ACCA Website and as I’m working from the June ’12 book I’m worried I don’t have enough information for the new material and potential questions……
Any help would be greatly received
ThanksMay 15, 2013 at 3:43 pm #125579Is the relevant cost £12,000 (ignoring the latter part of the question) because he can work either on this contract or another for £9600 and therefore this is not relevant but as there is no mention of other workers available (as you point out) he has to do the work himself and therefore it will cost him £12,000 to have the repairs done to his house and this is the only relevant cost. Many Thanks
April 8, 2013 at 2:08 pm #121915Will there be numerical questions on linear programming/iso contribution and planning with limited factors as there is no straight line equation given on the formula sheet?
Is it just linear regression and coefficient of determination they won’t be expecting you to do a numerical question on?
Many Thanks
March 25, 2013 at 2:02 pm #120562Thanks John – that makes a lot of sense. Are you able to confirm which notes on here we will need in addition to the 2012 Kaplan book. I have seen posts on here saying there’s an additional 20 pages. Are these notes on here? Many Thanks
March 19, 2013 at 2:34 pm #120078Will there be notes on here for the new chapter??? I’m using the 2012 book and sligtly concerned I’m missing a whole chapter. Thanks
March 19, 2013 at 2:16 pm #120077I have the 2012 P5 book will this suffice – also will there be notes on the new area for Quality on Open Tuition? If so could you please let me know when these will be available. Many Thanks
January 3, 2013 at 12:57 pm #111595Thanks John – just as a final thing, does that mean there could be areas not in the syllabus because they are assumed knowledge from earlier exams across all areas? Unless you are doing the exams in sync and don’t have any gap years there could well be lots of areas people should have covered but haven’t!!? The only way you could ever be sure would be to sit F2 followed the next year by F5…..
December 19, 2012 at 9:15 am #111593Thanks – will the areas in section C&D they have removed still potentially be in the exam? It’s years since I did any of this at AAT level (that’s if it was even covered) so I don’t want to waste my time looking over it if there is no chance it will be the exam.
I wasn’t sure if just becuase they remove areas – it doesn’t mean they won’t exam it?
Thanks for your help
November 29, 2012 at 1:59 pm #109099I’m not sitting the exam until June but do we need a scientific calculator? The bits I have covered so far haven’t required it – but may be I need it later in the book??
November 27, 2012 at 1:29 pm #75434I’m not sitting the exam in December – hoping to sit in June. Do you think the 2012 Kaplan book will be sufficient to pass? Just noticed all the additions to the syllabus!!! Looks a lot!! Worried I will need to get the 2013 book now!!
November 23, 2012 at 8:49 am #108388Many Thanks – sois is possible that we could get the labour and materials cheaper than the shadow price, dowe just have to assume that in the new P&L we just use the cost plus the shadow price but in reality the cost of labour and material and could be higher than the cost plus the shadow price?
Also what does the final statement mean – “Incorporating the contribution lost elsewhere by reallocating the scarce resources”?
November 8, 2012 at 2:21 pm #106755Many Thanks – so if the question is talking about absorption costing then you would have to include production fixed overheads such as factory rent but not non-production overheads such as the HR Department?
July 19, 2012 at 12:45 pm #89893Does it not matter that doing it one way rather than the other would produce a negative No. if standard is 20 and actual is 40 the answer will either be -20 or 20 but I’m assuming from the above post you could use either one? Thanks
June 18, 2012 at 2:55 pm #101133I was a bit thrown by the first question, wasn’t sure what they wanted and also the tenders threw me. 1st scenario question was a bit scarry and I think I got bogged down with veil of incorportation on the last question!!! Think I have missed out on loads of potential marks re the meetings and resolutions, wasn’t sure if they were talking about public or private companies and freaked a bit!!
Employment question was nice – hard to find 5 points to say about Volenti and contributory negligence each!!!
June 10, 2012 at 4:20 pm #98915Just a quick query re how to answer the questions. If point 2 wasn’t split out to two relevant points, would the examiner still give you two marks, or would he only classify it as one point?
Also, is the above really enough information. I have just done some past papers and I know the answer will never be as elaborate as the papers – but is the above elaborate enough? Will there be any questions which require the details of the case i.e. Fisher and bell – the fact they had goods in a shop window etc?
Finally – if a point was made without reference to a case – would we still get the mark. If for example, in a 5 mark question you have 5 points but can only remember 2 cases – can you still score 5 marks?
Many Thanks for your help.
May 22, 2012 at 4:37 pm #93103How reliable are these – It feels like too much to learn the whole bpp book!!!
