I managed to pass my final paper P6 at 69 marks on my 3rd attempt. The first attempt was at 41 marks and second attempt at 49 marks – both these attempts – while doing revision I just copied the answers from the revision kits after reading the questions. I would say a bad technique for question practice.
So for my 3rd attempt – I followed the advise ie read the questions and try to attempt to answer the questions on my own first without looking at the answers at the back – slowly I developed confidence and wherever I made mistakes after comparing my answers to the kit, I thoroughly revised my notes again where I lack knowledge and practised doing the question again without looking at the answer so I understand the application of the technical knowledge.
I used ebook of BPP revision kit and Kaplan’s question kit to practise.
In the exam , I did Q1 from 3.15 to 4.15pm , then Q2 from 4.15 to 5pm, then Q3 from 5 to 5.35pm and Q5 from 5.35 till 6.15pm – ie I followed the time strictly and never missed out doing all parts of the questions. So touched all parts of the questions!!!
Remember the most important rule – answer EVERY BITS of requirement the examiner ask like for example state the date of CGT payable and you skip this , then you lose marks or state whether the adjustment is correct/not correct and tell why it is so – and you state the adjustment is correct/not correct and did not tell why, then you lose marks!!
End of the day, you will simply pass by just fulfilling EVERY BITS of the requirements the examiner ask (tiny marks here and there will soon add up to contribute to the overall total of your marks) but you must have the correct technical knowledge and enough question practise under exam time to pass.
So, to all those who fail , don’t lose hope because you can pass if you believe you can!

February 6, 2014 at 8:02 am #155384I still remember last year Feb 8 2013 , when I was travelling in a train to Mumbai, I was so damn scared that I would have failed P3 and P7, but the results did not disappoint me and I had a sixth sense that this unexpected outstation trip (i had never been to Mumbai before) was a sign of some good and happy news to come. The trip was a reward indeed as I saw it as the POSITIVE SIGN FOR ME!
Then, nothing happened…no unexpected things were happening in my life and I failed my final paper P6 on Aug 8, 2013!
This time around, something good is happening on the Feb 8 2014 – I have been invited to a Chinese New Year Lunch by my long term family friends who had never gave lunch invite to anyone for all these years….and….I have been invited to attend an engagement of another family friend in the evening on the same day!
Wow….2 good and happy news happening on the same day ……that’s a positive sign… So I assuming again…….that good news might be on my way….keeping my fingers crossed!!!
All the best to the others too!
December 7, 2013 at 2:04 pm #151491I dont think there was any consortia in Q2. I remember reading that consortia members can have : individually atleast hold 5% but < 75% but together all the consortia members can hold atleast 75%. So i thought the other company outside the group was holding individually more than 75%!
Final paper and my 3rd attempt….Hoping for pass though i was not able to finish the paper. The examiner must seriously think about the length of questions for PART B as to read, understand, think, plan and write do take a lot more than 30 mins for 20 marks questions.
Wishing everyone advance Happy Holidays , Merry X’mas and Happy New Year!

September 18, 2013 at 5:54 am #140731Hi,
I dont think it’s easier to pass any ACCA papers. All need sacrifice and hard work. U can change your variant by going to myACCA under your account and when you select the paper for the exam entry, you will be given various variant options to select from. Just choose UK tax variant.
If you chose to do P6 (UK), then your knowledge of F6(UK) must be strong.
August 11, 2013 at 8:34 am #137491Hi I like to join the P6 UK study session as well.

I,ve been doing self study since i started f1 til now, i took p3 and p6 in june and passed both 1st attempt.qs practice
The main thing here is to know your weakness in the exam, is it time mgt or lack of knowledge of technical area. If tecnical aspect is the issue, put more effort in your study, if time, u should realize that p6 does not require stories, bullet point will do. do more qs practice, i believe in qs practice a lot so always give my self 4wks of qs practice for each paper. i used kaplan material. what you might also find helpful is visiting kaplan bitesize tutorials, they have very good materials and exam techniques free. if you search through google – kapaln bitesize tutorial- it takes you to the right page. Lastly lean on God’s strenght as with God all things are possible. Good luckThank you Temi for the valuable advice.

Hey i am so dissappointed i got 49. should i apply for revaluation
Please suggestI thought about this admin review and decided against it as i did not want to waste the money since i know where i have gone wrong! Think about it and ask yourself whether you really deserve a pass and then go with your gut feelings.

I had similar problem – failed P6 with 40+ marks 2 times.
I signed for Kaplan Distance Learning Premier this time. The course includes 4 assessments marked reasonably quckly, and a tutor is accessible any time to answer your questions. So I had 66% for Mock exam and got 65% for the actual exam. I belive these assessments give goo prediction of your performance on the exam.Thank you for your advice Habibla.

August 20, 2012 at 6:54 am #104433Hi Clarew,
Just wish to share my experience:-
I cleared my F7 with 51% last June and then cleared my P2 with 65% this June, both at 1st attempt. When i started to study for P2, my knowledge of F7 was realy kaput!
I attended classes and studied with a BPP text book (i did not find the Group chapters easy to understand especially the IAS 21 chapter). Some students suggested that Kaplan text book is easy for understanding. I dont know as i have never tried it!
I studied all standards throughly and practised questions (revision kit) all the time under timed conditions.
When you have practised the questions, try to go back and study the topics in the text again which enhances your understanding of the standards greatly!
I studied the whole syllabus!
What matters most in the exam:
1. Do ALL PARTS of the 3 questions! Answer everything even if you dont know the exact answer, use logic that are acceptable.2. Pls be strict with your time – if you dont , u will screw up your chances of passing the paper! Becoz the difference between a pass and a fail – is the ability of a student to time manage to answer ALL questions under exam pressure and this is one of the ability the examiner is looking for – “you are demonstrating good time management under pressure”!
3. Be ruthless in ignoring complications in the questions – if you know..do it, if not too sure…then answer logically within reasons but if totally cannot, then leave it and move onto the next part – time, time and time is what matters the most!!! ( I read the exam technique in the BPP revision kit)
4. Group questions (35 marks) – show your group structure clealry , workings clearly and pls reference them clearly, and pls put your format of the required statements clearly.
5. Leave lot of spaces and write neatly!
6. For all other questions – pls when you state the standards, apply them on the case scenarions given. Use the case scenario and explain how standards affect the scenario – the examiner is looking whether you understand the standards by way of application to the scenario!
7. Stay positive at all time and if must, reassure your self everyday ” I CAN PASS P2 and I WILL” whenever you feel overwhelmed with your studies. It’s totally in you whether you want to pass or not!
All the best!
August 15, 2012 at 5:43 am #104326Dear Sir,
Im currently studying for P7 but my knowledge of F8 is nil as i passed this paper long time ago. Is studying the F8 Open Tuition notes sufficient enough for my preparation for P7 exam or must i practise the F8 questions as well?Thank you Sir.
August 12, 2012 at 4:58 am #104193Thank you brother.
Can you share your study methods for P7?

It appeared most posters did well n this paper goin the results being posted.Although my group accounts question was very rough,I still felt I had a chance. Was shocked when i saw 40%!!! I am kinda depressed as I have already commenced lectures for p4 hoping that I am done with P2. P3 still outstanding. Bitting 3 papers in a diet is unthinkable but i believe in Allah.
P2 is one of those courses I hate to do again although this is my first attempt.Any help on how to approach the paper?Belunie,
I did the following:-
1.Studied the standards well
2.Practised all the questions in the revision kits – Bpp
3.In the exam, answered every parts of the questions within time limit
4.Applied the scenarios in the questions when using the standards to answer the question ie answering the questions asked and not simplu listing down standards without applicationAll the best!
